Lots of colorful palettes are dropping for Summer 2018 and I'm really excited about the new BH Cosmetics Aurora Lights Palette ($18). Their baked formula is my favorite and I've been collecting their other baked palettes such as Galaxy Chic, Solar Flare, and Supernova. They're so pigmented, smooth, and blend like a dream, plus you can use them wet for that super shiny look.
I'll be reviewing this one soon but for now, you can check it out on the BH Cosmetics website here!

New CoverGirl Matte Made Foundation Review & Swatches

Monday, June 4, 2018
CoverGirl has just launched the new TruBlend Matte Made Foundation ($8.44) in drugstores, and they sent me all 40 shades to swatch for you guys (I'm also doing a giveaway on my YouTube channel since I can't use all of the shades they sent me...link to that video will be at the end of this post).
I think 40 shades at the drugstore is a really huge step toward brands being more inclusive with shade ranges and I think more brands will follow CoverGirl's lead in the future. The Matte Made foundation is broken up into 4 categories...Light, Medium, Tan, and Deep with 10 shades in each. They also have Warm, Cool, and Neutral undertones, but I do wish they would have printed the undertone somewhere on the bottle. As of now, you have to guess the undertone just by looking at it, and while there are some that are very obviously pink or yellow, some are a little harder to distinguish.
Matte Made claims to minimize pores, control shine, feel comfortable on the skin, and last for 12 hours without fading. I've been testing it for the past 3 weeks or so and I definitely have some thoughts on the formula!
For the most part, I think the claims are true...I found that this foundation:
- Dries down very quickly to a matte finish and I didn't even feel the need to set it with a powder or setting balm (at least on my dry skin).
- While I don't know if it minimized my pores, it certainly didn't draw attention to them!
- It has a nice medium coverage that can be built up.
- It's long-lasting and didn't wear off (even on my nose) for the majority of the day.
- Even though my skin is dry, it didn't look cakey or cling to dry patches.
But there were a few negatives:
- My skin had a dehydrated look (my cheeks looked like they had fine lines when I smiled), so even though it doesn't cake up on dry skin, it still had a dry appearance to it.
- This foundation oxidizes like crazy...the photo below is the same shade. The swatch on the left is one that I let dry first, while the swatch on the right is a fresh swatch. So make sure to go lighter than your normal shade.
Now let's take a look at some swatches! These are all fresh, non-oxidized swatches and what each shade looks like right out of the bottle (I did these before I knew that the foundation oxidized).
Overall, I like the new CoverGirl Matte Made Foundation for many reasons...it's long-lasting, has nice coverage, and doesn't need to be set (at least on my dry skin). But I also don't like that it oxidizes and also makes my skin look dry (maybe it won't be quite as bad in the summer when my skin leans more toward normal).
To see more (or to enter my giveaway) check out my video below...I also do an application demo so you can see how it covers.
What do you guys think? Will you be trying the new CoverGirl Matte Made foundation?

Lime Crime Wet Cherry Lip Gloss Review & Swatches
Lime Crime has just released their new Wet Cherry Lip Glosses ($18 each at Ulta) and they are definitely some of the most unique glosses I've tried in a while! They claim to create that super reflective glossy finish of a maraschino cherry in a lightweight, non-sticky formula and I would agree with that, as they are thinner and way more glossy than just about anything I have in my collection. They actually remind me a lot of the old Maybelline Kissing Potion from the '80's (the ones that were in a roll-on tube).
They come in two different finishes...Juicy Sheer and Sparkly Sheer and have a yummy cherry scent.
I love how they're sheer but still pack a color punch, particularly the deeper shades. My favorites are Bitter Cherry and Sweet Cherry (pictured on me, below).
Overall, these are such a fun summer lip product and I'm really glad to see glossy lips coming back, as I never fully embraced the matte lipstick trend!
What about you? What's your favorite shade pictured in the swatches?

Colleen Rothschild Flash Sale!
Colleen Rothschild is having a flash sale until tonight and I wanted to share it with you because it includes my favorite facial oil...the Retinol Supreme Night Oil. It's $21 off (and you can save another 20% if you sign up for emails on her website).
I've been using this oil since last summer and it makes such a difference in my skin. When I wake up in the morning my skin is glowing and I can definitely tell when I use it and when I don't. Most skincare doesn't give such a visible result, which is why I was truly wowed by this. It does include retinol for anti-aging, but since I use so many other anti-aging products, I can't say for sure if this has reduced fine lines or anything like that.
My main reasons for using it are: 1. because it seals in my moisturizer and hydrates my dry skin so well, and 2. because of the way my skin looks the next morning...it starts the day off right and my skin looks bright, smooth, plumped, and healthy). Anti-aging is just an added benefit for me!
Also, her new Retinol Supreme Eye Serum is part of the sale as well, and I went ahead and ordered it because my eyes have been needing a little bit of help lately. I'll have to let you guys know my thoughts on it once I've tried it for a while. :)
This sale is only on for today, so if you're interested, head on over to ColleenRothschild.com and check it out (don't forget to sign up for emails to save another 20% off!).
Morphe Blushing Babes Pop of Peach Palette
Hello all! I'm baaaack...well sort of! I've been trying to figure out a way to do Instagram, YouTube, and blog and it's been so hard, mainly because YouTube was a huge learning curve for me and took up so much time. But now that I have my groove, I find myself missing this blog and writing about makeup. So I'm going to try to pop in as often as I can (it may not be everyday) but I don't want to completely abandon this platform because I really love doing it.
So anyway, this is a quick review of the new Morphe Blushing Babes Pop of Peach palette ($12 at Ulta). It comes in seven shades and I chose this one because I'm a sucker for peachy blushes, but when it arrived in the mail I was surprised at how dark it was because the colors looked much lighter on the Ulta website.
But they do sheer out quite beautifully, so I can still use them on my fair skin tone as long as I use a lighter hand (especially for the deepest shade, Influencer). The formula feels soft but not too powdery, which is really nice. To me, they kind of feel like The Balm's blushes which I really enjoy.
- Maker is described as a matte baked apricot...I would say it has more of a satin finish.
- Creator is a matte papaya shade and my favorite in the palette
- Influencer is a shimmering nutmeg shade, but the shimmer is very soft and not chunky or glittery.
Overall, this is a really cute blush palette with a nice formula and I think it would be great to take on vacation with me this summer because it's so portable. I would like to try some more shades, but I'm a little bit wary of choosing shades based on the website since this one looked completely different so I may look for them in-store (Pop of Peach is the only shade that's listed as "online only").
What do you think of the shades in here? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Sephora VIB Sale Recommendations + Wishlist
It's that time of year again! The Sephora VIB sale starts this upcoming weekend (April 13-16 for Rouge) and the 20-23 for Rouge, VIB, and Insiders). Rouge and VIB get 15% off and Insiders get 10%.

My Updated Skincare Routine
It's time for an updated skincare routine video! This one includes a lot of more affordable products and Korean brands, as well as a couple of high-end products. I feel like my skin looks even better at 40 than it did at 30 and it's definitely thanks to carefully following the steps in the Korean skincare routine and a lot of these awesome products (plus being careful about sunscreen).
I hope you enjoy it!

Hey Guys! If you follow me over on Instagram or on YouTube, you may have seen some of my recent hauls from stores like Target and Ulta. Over the past month or two, I've gotten a mix of hair products, skincare, and makeup, and I thought it would be fun to do a follow-up video now that I've tried everything and let you know my thoughts on the products. :)
Here's the video...there are more products included than in the photo above!
NEW Maybelline Lemonade Craze Eyeshadow Palette + Swatches
The Maybelline Lemonade Craze palette is now available for pre-sale on Amazon.com! It's $10.99 and features 12 shades with matte and shimmer finishes (and has a soft lemon scent!). The brand says that it won't be out in stores until May-June (depending on when they put them out) so getting it from Amazon is the only way we can get it a few weeks sooner here in the U.S.
I haven't been a big fan of Maybelline's eyeshadows in the past (except for the City Minis) but I'm hopeful that these will be good, especially based on the swatch photos (see below).
Ulta's 21 Days of Beauty Kicks Off Today!
The Ulta 21 Days of Beauty sale starts today with 50% off on the Lorac Pro 3 Palette ($22, Platinum Perk), Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara ($10), and Philosophy's Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash ($14).
I haven't tried the Philosophy cleanser, and I like (but don't love) Tarte's Lights Camera Lashes. The standout today (for me) is the Lorac Pro 3 Palette. I wasn't a fan of it when it first came out...I thought it was bland and boring, especially since it launched at the same time as the Modern Renaissance, back in June of 2016. But I recently rediscovered it when I was going through my eyeshadow collection for a video on my YouTube channel and have a new appreciation for it. Maybe I'm tired of all the deeper warm orange and red tones that have been taking over the last few years, and this seems like a breath of fresh air. Also Lorac's super soft, blendable formula is perfect for people like me who aren't experts in makeup application. If you're Platinum, I definitely recommend this one!
The Hot Buys are available every day of the sale and while there isn't too much jumping out at me on this page, I do want to try more of the bareMinerals Gen Nude Lipsticks. I have one and really like the formula!
This is also the first year Ulta has had a deal on mini sizes...they're Buy 3 Get 1 Free!
Will you be buying anything during the first day of the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty sale? I'd love to hear about it! :)

Weight Loss Analysis with HomeDNA + My Results

Wednesday, February 7, 2018
Last year I took a HomeDNA Skincare test that told me all about my skin and how it functions (see that post here). It was so insightful I was excited to try another test, this time about my weight. I've always been very conscious of my figure but when I hit my mid-30's it became a bit of an uphill battle to lose any extra pounds. I figured I could use all the help I can get to figure out if there are genetic factors working against me and what I can do about them.
The Healthy Weight Kit is $119 on the HomeDNA website but you can use code HW50 to save $50, making it only $69. It comes with sterile swabs to collect a DNA sample from your inside your cheek (quick and completely painless!), and a postage-paid envelope to mail your sample to the lab.

Milani Cosmetics recently released some brand new products on their website, including two eyeshadow palettes, shiny liquid lipsticks, and plumping lip glosses! There are also some new highlighters which I didn't end up getting just because I have too many powder highlighters at the moment and these days I've been gravitating toward cream formulas for my drier skin.

The Ultra Repair cream is one of my all-time favorites because it has this beautiful lightweight, fluffy texture that sinks right in with no greasy feel...yet it's incredibly hydrating! I also love that you can use it all over your body, even on your face.

NEW Tarte Maneater II Palette, Shape Tape Eye Primer, Tinted Brow Gel
Makeup News,
Tarte

Monday, January 15, 2018
Tarte just dropped their new Shape Tape Foundation and now there are even more surprises, including the new Maneater Volume II Palette ($30). It has a slightly different layout with the addition of a black shade. I compared the original (left) with the new version (right) and all of the shades have the same names, yet look slightly different. That could just be lighting though...I'm guessing it's the exact same palette with one extra shade.
Finally, there's a new Shape Tape Eye Primer Stick ($21) that claims to be a 4-in-1 waterproof, creaseproof formula that doubles as an eye primer, neutral eyeshadow, correcting tint, and soft highlight.
What's on your list?

Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette | Sneak Peek
![]() |
Photo: @norvina on Instagram |
The Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam palette was leaked on Instagram today, forcing @norvina to post official photos earlier than she wanted to.
In her Instagram caption, she wrote about her inspiration for creating the palette:
"Soft Glam was leaked, like everything else we launch nowadays.
Here she is 😍😩 so proud of this palette. I wanted to create a neutral palette that is a go-to for anyone, transitions beautifully from day to night, and is a dream for MUA’s with a bridal clientele.
I made this palette for my mom @anastasiabeverlyhills
She is a neutrals 👑 and likes what she likes. I’ve been staring at the same hues of shadows in her makeup drawers since I was little.
In truth it’s not just for her, it’s for everyone that loves this color story & wants shadows that melt on your skin and are packed with pigment.
I created 7 new shades, used 3 from MR (Modern Renaissance) & incorporated my moms favorite ABH single shades which happen to be nudes Sienna & Orange Soda.
There’s also Noir, because some of my favorite bridal makeup is a cat eye using mostly shadow that some of my favorite MUA’s create
My philosophy on using existing single shades of those that are in a palette is this; if I can create a brand new shadow that isn’t in the line wonderful, however if some of the shades that work within the configuration are close enough to be an existing shadow, I’m not naming the new one something else and making you purchase a shadow that you can’t find as a single should you hit pan. Fair is fair & beloved shadows especially neutrals don’t exactly go out of style.
I have so much campaign stuff to show you late February, but for now, here she is
SOFT GLAM
I just uploaded swatches on my story. They’re rushed & done while upset so don’t judge the sloppiness

Photos: @norvina on Instagram |
To me, this is like the more neutral "sister" to the Modern Renaissance palette. It has three of the same shades (Tempera, Burnt Orange, & Cypress Umber) but none of the brighter reds and oranges that neutral lovers shy away from. It looks super wearable and I'm excited for it! :)
What about you guys? What are your thoughts?
