Two Drugstore Dupes for the Naked Heat Palette

Now that I've reviewed the Naked Heat palette, I figured it was time to find some more affordable dupes! I looked through my collection and the first thing that jumped out at me was the NYX Ultimate Eyeshadow Palette in Warm Neutrals ($17.99). The colors looked very similar, plus the NYX also has four additional shades.
When I started swatching them side-by-side, I couldn't believe how similar a lot of the colors were...not to mention the NYX formula is amazing and very comparable, in my opinion. Both companies are owned by L'oreal so I thought that was kind of interesting as well!

The NYX palette is available at Target (they also have it at Ulta but it's never in stock). I found mine in-store but if you're not sure if your Target carries it, you can always search by zip code on the website to see if your local stores have it in stock.

Next, I pulled out my J.Cat Beauty Sunset Boulevard Palette ($14.99) to see if I could find any dupes. Turns out there are a lot of similar shades, even though the J. Cat palette doesn't have any of the lighter shades that the Naked Heat does.

The Sunset Boulevard Palette has 24 shades (double the Naked Heat) and I wasn't going to swatch them all since a lot of them don't look like they would be dupes. So I just swatched the shades that looked similar in the pan. The formula is also very comparable...soft and highly pigmented!

The J. Cat Sunset Boulevard Palette is available online at Ulta.com

So I really hope this post was helpful! If you already have either one of these palettes, you may decide that you can skip the Naked Heat (and if you don't own either of these palettes, they're definitely worth a purchase!).

What are your thoughts? :)

  1. I'm pleasantly shocked that the Nyx palette is so close! With the same parent company, ya gotta wonder if it's basically the same product with different names.

I keep waffling about the Heat palette, and since I already spent big (to me) bucks on both the TF Sweet Peach and ABH Modern Renaissance palettes, I think I might be covered. But at $17.99 I could def get the Nyx one, especially in one of Ulta's frequent BOGOHO sales. THANKS!!

  3. Yup... definitely going with Nyx. I've gone back and forth wanting it since it came out, but now that I know it's a great alternative to Naked Heat (which seems like a lot of darker colors than I'd normally wear, just like you pointed out), maybe I'll treat myself to this one and save myself the temptation.

  4. This is amazing thank you!!! I've been trying really hard to talk myself out of getting the Naked Heat when it comes out on the 30th and this made me feel so much better. I already have this NYX palette and love it! It just goes to show you that these makeup companies create so much hype around a product and make people want it so badly that they don't even stop to realize, "hey I have the same colors already in another palette!" Thanks for bringing me back to reality and saving me $54. Have I told you lately how much I love your blog?

  6. Which of the 2 dupes has better pigmentation? The Nyx or the JCat beauty palette?

  7. Thank you so much for the dupes!

I've never been a fan of Urban Decay's Naked Palettes until they came out with Naked Heat because I'm a total sucker for warm-tones. I was hyped up for it, but then remembered I would be dropping over $50 for it!

Probably won't stop me from buying it... but I'll definitely be getting the J. Cat and/or NYX palette in the meantime.

  8. Definitely getting the Jcat palette since I was going to get it anyway! I have tons of the lighter colors from other palettes, so this is perfect! Thanks for the swatches.

  10. Thank you for the post. I love UD and I love the warm neutrals, but I cannot fork out $54.00 for it. I just can't do it. I'll cross my fingers and check ulta for the NYX palette and use my $3.50 coupon also. :0).

  11. Check where the NYX palette is made. If its made in China/PRC where most of NYX is, please beware. They do not have the same quality standards that we have nor that Europe and other countries have. You are putting these on your face for hours!
I personally do not buy mu made in China, just sayin...check the labels!

    1. Hi Carmen! I am always wary of products made in China, whether it's makeup, clothing, food...pretty much anything. When it comes to makeup, I typically stay away from no-name brands because they often order private label from a factory in China and who knows what the standards are...no one from the brand has likely even visited the factory. However, I feel more comfortable that a large, well-known brand like NYX has lots of oversight over their own factory. Especially because they're producing their own custom creations and not just cranking out private label-type palettes. :)

  13. Makeup Revolution has a dupe of the naked heat palette also. This dupe is $7 & it has 15 colours instead of just 12 which is a bonus & MRev is well known for having amazing pigmentation. They have dupes for soooo many high end palettes, so if ur like me & can't justify dropping over $50 for every palette that hits the shelves, check out tambeauty.com.. I just got 4 palettes & a setting spray for under $40!!
