As a self-proclaimed blush palette junkie, how could I not pick up the new Lorac California Dreaming Cheek Palette? I tried not to want it but there were so many things that were calling to me...from the pretty boho chic packaging to the warm, sunkissed shades, to the fact that Lorac's blush formula is one of my all-time favorites. Too many things added up and let's face it...I'm weak. :)

Review:
I was really hoping that the formula in this palette would be the same as the Lorac Color Source blushes and good news...it is! These have the same silky, ultra blendable formula. They pack a lot of pigment and pick up easily on a brush so if you're fair skinned like I am, I suggest barely tapping your brush into each pan or you'll be at risk of overdoing it.
The palette contains two shimmer shades and two matte shades.
Sunlight is a highlight shade and it's too deep for my skin tone as far as highlighting goes. I do top off my blush with it sometimes if I want a bit more glow. It's very smooth and doesn't have any chunky shimmer or glitter.
Wavelength is a beautiful rosy matte pink that actually goes on deeper than it looks in the pan. I'm crazy about this shade...it's perfect.
Ray looks like a cooler-toned matte bronzer in the pan but it surprised me by going on with a rosy undertone. I also love to use this as a blush...I just have to be careful not to use too much since it's a lot deeper than my skin tone.
Golden Hour is a slightly shimmery warm bronze shade that also looks great as a blush...if I don't use too much!
Comparison Swatches:
As always I wanted to see if I had anything in my makeup stash that could dupe these shades. As it turns out, I found quite a few similarities!
2. Wavelength blush is a combo of two other Lorac Color Source blushes I own...Tinge and Prism. It's right in-between the two.
3. I was convinced when I first swatched Ray that the rosy brown shade would be a dupe for The Balm's Balm Desert but it's actually a lot rosier than that.
4. In the pan, Golden Hour looks exactly like the Unapologetic shade in the Lorac Unzipped Cheek Palette (no longer available). They are very similar but not exact dupes.
Final Thoughts:
I'm loving the Lorac California Dreaming Cheek Palette, but was there any doubt?Haha! It's just beautiful! The warm, beachy shades are just what I needed to bring me out of my winter funk and get me thinking about warmer weather, plus the formula is top-notch as always.

DeleteI just got this at Kohls and I'm in love after using it one time. I have medium-toned skin and I think every shade is perfection. Seeing as how the highlight is too deep for you, I would say this palette is best for medium skin tones (but could work on a pretty big range). Thank you for all of your comparisons too!
