Let me start this post by saying I'm really not a big fan of Maybelline's eyeshadows. I've been pretty disappointed by their palettes, even the newest 24k Nudes one with the improved shadow formula. It was better but certainly not my favorite. So when I saw a recent YouTube video of Tati raving about the formula of the new Expert Wear single eyeshadows, I decided to give them a shot. I found them BOGO 50% off at Walgreens, so I picked up six of them to try. Let's take a look!
In Tati's video, she mentioned that some of the shades are better than others so I made sure to select only colors that she recommended. Here's what I got:
- Nude Glow (metallic)
- The Glo Down (metallic)
- Khaki Camo (matte)
- Made for Mocha (matte)
- Soft Pearl (pearl)
- Forest Green (pearl)

My swatches are one swipe of each shade (no primer), and you can see that the two metallics I picked up, Nude Glow and The Glo Down are stunning...creamy, buttery and highly pigmented in one swipe. They would also make fantastic highlighters! The matte shades Khaki Camo and Made for Mocha swatched okay and felt very smooth and silky rather than powdery or patchy. But the real magic was applying them to my eyes with a brush...they blend so beautifully and lasted all day on my eyes (actually all of them did). The pearl shades, Soft Pearl and Forest Green were also beautiful...Soft Pearl makes a really pretty browbone shade because it's glowy but not shimmery.
Overall, I'm really impressed by these and would definitely recommend picking up a few of them to try! Also, Tati swatched more shades in her video if you want to check that out.
Available now at drugstores (currently BOGO 50% off at Ulta.com).

I wish they would make the formula of their palettes this good too! I'm so over eye shadow singles just because I don't have room for them lol
ReplyDeleteI know right? I hope they read all of the good reviews on these and start using this formula for their palettes!
DeleteOh good it looks like they made Nude Glow more pigmented!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's amazing! :)
DeleteMaybelline is 40% off this week at Rite Aid!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I might have to pick up some more! :)
DeleteI got the Glo Down and you're right, it's an absolutely stunning highlighter as well
ReplyDeleteRight?! I need to compare it to some of my other highlights and see if it's a dupe for something!
DeleteI absolutely love your blog! It's crazy how often I wonder about a product, only to find it mentioned or reviewed here. We must be curious about the same things! You're such a beauty--thanks for what you do in this space.
ReplyDeleteAw thank you SO much Carmen! :) That's so awesome to hear that you've been liking my content! When I'm about to post about something I'm interested in, I always wonder if other people will be too. :)
DeleteI'm in love with Soft Pearl as a cheekbone highlighter too. It's SO intense and pigmented!
