Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Lipstick Review & Swatches

8
I've never been a big fan of matte liquid lipsticks but I've always held out hope that someone would invent the perfect formula...non-drying, transfer-proof, comfortable to wear, and lasts all day. So when Rimmel London sent me all 14 shades of their new Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour, ($5.49 at Ulta), I was hopeful but not very optimistic. I've tried so many formulas and the only one that I find is comfortable to wear is the Revlon Ultra HD matte liquid lipstick. Unfortunately, they don't feel like they dry down all the way and tend to transfer on me, which is a bummer.

So how did the Rimmel Stay Matte do? Keep on reading to find out (hint...they're awesome).

Maybelline Master Bronze Palette Review & Swatches

2
maybelline master bronze palette review
The Maybelline Master Bronze Palette is brand new for Summer 2017 and I grabbed one as soon as I saw them pop up on Amazon so I could try it before it hit the drugstores. Since I'm fair and I have a difficult time finding a bronzer that's not too dark or too warm (orange), I don't usually gravitate toward palettes. I tend to just seek out one color that will work with my skin tone and buy the single version.
However, this one was really affordable and I admit that I got sucked in by the pretty chevron pattern that was stamped into it.

Spotted! New Revlon Ultra HD Metallic Matte Lipcolor

3

Revlon has just launched a new Metallic version of their Ultra HD Matte Liquid Lipsticks and I spotted them at Bed, Bath, and Beyond over the long weekend. They're $9.99 and come in 8 shades, some of which are "non-traditional" such as gray, purple, and navy blue.

I'm not a metallic lipstick fan myself as I feel like the finish accentuates dryness and lines, but if you don't have those issues, these might be a really fun lip option for summer!

If you haven't seen them yet in-store, they also just dropped at Ulta.com.

What are your thoughts? Do you like a metallic lip or will you be skipping these?

L'oreal Pure Clay Cleansers Spotted at Walgreens

2
loreal pure clay cleansers
L'oreal has just launched a new line of Pure-Clay Cleansers and I spotted them at Walgreens yesterday. They claim to be a "clay-to-mousse" formula and retail for $6.99 each...not a bad price for a 4.4 oz. tube!
 There are three different formulas...

  • Detox and Brighten with 3 pure clays + charcoal
  • Exfoliate & Refine with 3 pure clays + Red Algae
  • Purify & Mattify with 3 pure clays + Eucalyptus
They're also available at Ulta.com if you'd like to read more about them and see the ingredient lists for each type. I ended up buying the Detox & Brighten one to try...I felt like it would be the least drying of the three and even though winter is over, my skin is still on the drier side.

What are your thoughts? Are you interested in trying these out?

Maybelline City Mini Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

6
maybelline city mini palette review
I haven't been the biggest fan of Maybelline's eyeshadow palettes in the past but every time they release a new one I have hope that maybe the formula has changed. So when I saw the new City Mini Palettes launch on Amazon.com, I ordered two of them to test out and review with my fingers crossed.
First, let me just say that Amazon's packaging is terrible. They threw these into a large box by themselves (no bubble wrap, no paper...nothing), and they just rattled around until one of them broke (thankfully it didn't shatter but the eyeshadow cakes came loose from the pans and I had to put it back together like a little puzzle). Also, these eyeshadows have been poured directly into the compact, rather than being housed in metal pans which probably contributed to the breakage issue. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend ordering them from Amazon...they just launched at Ulta.com and will also be in stores any day now.

Maybelline Master Chrome Highlighter Review, Swatches, and Comparisons

9
maybelline master chrome highlighter review
Even though I have way too many highlighters and have stopped buying high-end versions all together, I couldn't resist trying the new Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter ($9.99 at Ulta.) I guess it was mostly out of curiosity...I wondered about the formula and if it could be a dupe for some of my higher-end golden highlighters.

Pacifica Beachy Punk Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

6

I've been trying my best to not buy any more eyeshadow palettes for a while unless they're completely different from ones I already own. So when I saw the new Beachy Punk Palette ($14) from Pacifica at my local Ulta the other day, I knew it fit that description because I own very few colorful eyeshadow palettes. I typically wear neutrals on my eyes and shy away from color but one of the things that drew me to this palette was that the shades are colorful but not bright, so I guess that makes them more wearable in my mind. I also have never tried Pacifica eyeshadows before and the price was right.

Let's take a look!

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Eyeshadow Palette Volume III - Sneak Peek

6

Trendmood on Instagram just leaked a photo of the new Tarte Cosmetics Rainforest of the Sea Highlighting Eyeshadow Palette Volume III and I think it's the prettiest one yet!

I know a lot of people feel like Tarte only comes out with basic neutral shades all the time, but I don't mind because that's what I actually wear in my daily life. I have the original Rainforest palette and I really liked the formula. I didn't buy the second one because the colors didn't appeal to me...but this one is right up my alley with the rosy tones so I'll definitely be buying this one!

For reference, here's a look at Volumes I and II:
Volume I had mostly warm bronzy tones (with two rosier shades included) and Volume II was much cooler-toned. Volume III appears to be almost all rosy tones, which is so awesome!

What are your thoughts? Will you be getting this when it launches?

Sleek Makeup Lands in the US at Ulta Beauty!

2
UK beauty brand Sleek MakeUP has arrived in the US and is now being sold at Ulta.com! Right now the collection is limited to their palettes, but I'm hoping that just like with Makeup Revolution they'll start to include more of the line over time.

I'm really excited because I own one Sleek palette and a blush that I really love but since I hate to pay international shipping (and wait a long time for it to arrive), I haven't tried anything else from them in a while.

Have you ever tried Sleek MakeUP? Are you excited that they're now at Ulta Beauty?

Available now at Ulta.com

L'oreal Summer 2017 Arrives at Ulta Beauty

3
loreal summer 2017
Loreal has just released their Summer 2017 Collection online at Ulta.com, featuring the new Infallible Pro Glow Powder and Concealer, Metallic Lip Paints and Eyeshadow Singles, Matte Lip Liners, a new brow crayon, plus the new Lash Paradise mascara I reviewed a few days ago.

I loved the Pro Glow foundation they released last summer and am very excited about a matching concealer and powder! The powder looks like it has a matte or satin finish on one side and a subtle highlighting powder on the other.

What are you excited to try from this collection? Have you seen it in-store yet?

Available now at Ulta.com

Coming Soon: The Tartelette Toasted Palette

6
tartelette toasted palette
Tarte just shared a sneak peek on Instagram of their new Tartelette Toasted palette, and they said it will be "coming in hot this fall".

So what I'm wondering is...when they say "Fall" do they mean it's part of the Fall collection (which launched June 13th last year) or that it's actually launching in the Fall? Because we usually start to see the Holiday collections arriving in September so I'm hoping we'll see this before then!

I absolutely LOVE my Tartelette in Bloom palette...it's in my top 3 palettes of all time, so I'm really excited for this one. When I look at the Tartelette in Bloom (below),  the new Toasted version seems quite a bit warmer and perfect for Autumn.
What are your thoughts? Are you excited for a brand new addition to the Tartelette family?

L'Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara Review

7
loreal lash paradise review
Good morning guys! This has been a very highly requested review as everyone is curious about the new L'oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara. Many of you have asked me on social media if I think it's a dupe for Too Faced Better Than Sex, so I couldn't resist putting these two head-to-head for this review.

Lash Paradise comes in a pretty pink tube, just like Better Than Sex, although it's a little slimmer and very lightweight (the Too Faced version is heavy).

Looking at the brushes below, they look very similar, with a slight hourglass shape and fluffier, densely packed bristles (which I prefer over the hard plastic type).
loreal lash paradise mascara

Lash Paradise's formula is a bit on the drier side but upon first application, it coated my lashes very easily and quickly. It gave me lots of length and volume, plus curl which lasted most of the day. It also didn't smudge or flake on me at all, which is one thing that can make or break a mascara for me. Conversely, the Too Faced Better Than Sex always smudges on me before the day is out, which is one reason why I almost never reach for it.

The brush is also awesome because it's slightly smaller than the Too Faced one, and it's very easy to control (as in, I don't get any mascara on my eyelids!).

Below I applied the Too Faced Better Than Sex on one eye and the L'Oreal Lash Paradise on the other. Both gave me a similar amount of volume and curl but the Lash Paradise definitely gave me more length and a bit of a feathery look, like falsies.
loreal lash paradise vs too faced better than sex
Overall, after wearing Lash Paradise for almost a week, I am absolutely loving it...even more than the new Cover Girl Total Tease, which I was wearing a lot before finding this one. The brush is fantastic and very easy to control, it doesn't smudge or flake, and it gives me a fluttery false lash look. For me, this isn't a dupe for Too Faced Better Than Sex...it's even better!

Available now at Ulta.com in Regular and Waterproof versions.

I found mine in-store at Target last week and when I went back a few days ago, the display was already empty, so if you're purchasing in-store, I recommend doing it sooner rather than later (or you may have to wait for a restock!).

Maybelline Vivid Hot Lacquer Review & Swatches

7
Maybelline Vivid Hot Lacquer Review
Maybelline recently launched a new line of lip glosses called Vivid Hot Laquer on Amazon.com and Ulta.com (arriving in drugstores soon) and they're supposed to be a high-coverage, glossy finish that doesn't feather or migrate. Naturally I had to try them out, since I like lip glosses but hate the shorter wear-time.

L.A. Girl Eye Lux Eyeshadow Review & Swatches

8
L.A. Girl Eye Lux Eyeshadow Review
I recently spotted the new L.A. Girl Eye Lux eyeshadows at Ulta and while I don't normally gravitate toward quads (I usually go for larger palettes) I've been seeing great reviews for these on YouTube, so my interest was piqued.
They come in six different shade combinations and are $5.99. I ended up choosing more neutral-toned palettes since that's what I would wear most often, but there are several more colorful options.

Tarte Cosmetics is launching their very first fragrance called Sweet Tarte on June 1 and it sounds amazing.

The notes are essential orange oil, passionfruit, lychee, and Madagascar vanilla (just like their palettes). It's housed in a travel-friendly rollerball covered in hearts and will cost $24.

What do you think? Will you be buying this? I have to admit, I'm all in!

Available June 1 at Ulta Beauty and TarteCosmetics.com

NEW Maybelline Fit Me Blush Review + Swatches

5
Maybelline fit me blush 2017
Maybelline has revamped their FIT me! blushes with new shades and sleek new packaging for 2017. I haven't seen them out in stores yet (Maybelline usually arrives in June), but I picked up a few shades last week on Amazon to try. I don't have Prime but they arrived in 2 days anyway which was great! On the downside, Amazon threw them into the box with no bubble wrap or any kind of protection, so it's a miracle they didn't shatter (but a few other things I ordered did). So basically, order at your own risk when it comes to Amazon and makeup!

Beauty Chat: Are You Tired of Beauty Blogs?

61

I've been getting lots of emails and messages on social media from fellow bloggers and YouTubers lately who feel like their views/comments/interaction is down with their subscribers and I definitely agree...I've experienced it myself. I know it can't be because you guys aren't interested in beauty products anymore (that would be awful!) because I think in general, people will always have an interest in looking their best. But I think the problem might be more of a distaste for where beauty blogs/vlogs have gone in the past couple of years.

When I first started reading blogs and watching beauty videos on YouTube, I did so because I wanted to learn something.

I wanted to find out how to save money on makeup, or other uses for a certain product, see drugstore dupes, or tutorials like how to apply winged eyeliner. But lately it seems to be all about pushing new products, particularly expensive ones and as a blogger, I fully admit to doing this myself.

At one point, I was all about buying every new palette that came out...it was exciting for a while! "I need this so that I can review it on the blog" I'd tell myself, but recently, having all the things has really started to overwhelm me. I've spent most of my blog earnings (which aren't nearly as much as you would think) on new makeup and beauty products to review and half of them are still sitting upstairs, untouched because I haven't had the time to get to them. It's kind of depressing and feels empty and pointless. I'll talk about a product and then hardly bring it up again because it's lost among hundreds of other products.

Not to mention, feeling like I have to talk about something because it's "hot" and "trendy" kind of takes the joy out of it. In the past, I would feel inspired to write about something because I loved it and enjoyed using it, not because it's what everyone is talking about.

That being said, I still love beauty products and am still very much into sharing them with you. But I think it might be time to take a different approach. That's where you come in...I would love to know what you think about these topics. Do you want to see:

  • New product launches
  • Drugstore dupes
  • Ulta/Sephora/Drugstore hauls
  • Anti-Hauls
  • Shopping my stash/revisiting old products
  • YouTube- if I start a channel would you watch? (For now it would probably be informal vlogs, like my Instagram stories, only longer)
  • PR Unboxings
  • Tutorials
  • Decluttering
  • Other topics like lifestyle and fashion
Thank you so much for your input...I really appreciate it! Ultimately, you guys are the ones reading my blog every day so it's important for me to hear your thoughts and feelings and to find out what you'd be interested in reading about!

New Benefit POREfessional Makeup Now at Sephora

2
If you've been wishing for Benefit to make a POREfessional foundation (I know I have!), then today's your lucky day! They just released it on Sephora.com and it comes in 5 shades...not the biggest color range but if you're fair to medium-toned, you'll likely be able to find one that suits you.

Here are the details:

Target pore problem areas with the POREfessional: pore minimizing makeup. This long-wearing, matte makeup covers imperfections without clogging pores. The weightless formula reduces the look of pores and controls surface oil for up to eight hours. It’s infused with mushroom extract, known to visibly minimize pores. It includes a custom, built-in pore-blurring sponge to smooth on flawless, buildable coverage.

Will you be trying this one out?

The POREfessional Pore Minimizing Makeup is available now for $30 at Sephora.com and in stores in June.

Multi-Purpose Products for Summer Travel

1
When it comes to summer travel, who doesn't love multi-purpose makeup? It takes up so much less space in your bag or suitcase and saves you money too, since you don't have to buy many different products. Even if you're staying home, summer is always a busy time with lots of activities and I don't know about you, but I don't always have the time for my normal makeup routine. I need to simplify things a bit and lately I've been testing out a bunch of new products that totally fit the bill, so I thought I'd round them all up in one post...plus a few old favorites.

Let's get started!

1

QVC and CEW Present Beauty With Benefits

0

The QVC and CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women) Beauty With Benefits event is airing tomorrow 5/18 from 6-8pm Eastern Time and 80% of the purchase price of items purchased will go to benefit Cancer and Careers.

Cancer and Careers is a free resource for people who have cancer (or who have had cancer) and are in the workforce.  It offers advice and interactive tools on a variety of subjects such as legal rights, finances, managing side effects from treatment, dealing with co-workers, interviewing, resume building, and much more. I think the work they're doing is so important...not being affected by cancer myself, I never stopped to think about how difficult it must be to try to handle a full time job while dealing with something so scary. Their goal is to eliminate fear and uncertainty for working people with cancer and having these kind of resources can hopefully provide some comfort and peace of mind during a frightening time. If you know anyone who has cancer, I definitely recommend checking out their website.

Currently, there are 32 different products on QVC.com, generously donated by the brands that are part of the Beauty With Benefits show. When you purchase one of these items, 80% of the purchase price will go to Cancer and Careers, and you'll also receive a 6-piece gift with purchase with an $83 value featuring products from Philosophy, Mally Beauty, Dr. Dennis Gross and more.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakthroughs TSV On QVC

0
Today only, the IT Cosmetics It's Your Bye Bye Breakthroughs 5-Piece Collection is available on QVC for $79.98 (or 6 Easy Pays of $13.33). It includes two of their best (in my opinion) skincare products...Bye Bye Makeup Cleansing Balm and Bye Bye Lines Serum, plus you're getting the Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination Concealer and the brand new Bye Bye Pores Illumination and Heavenly Skin Bye Bye Pores brush.

This is a $207 value, and just the two skincare products alone would cost you $96 if you purchased them individually. So if you've been wanting to try the Bye Bye Makeup Cleansing Balm and Bye Bye Lines Serum, this is a great way to save some money on those.

I'm a huge fan of the original Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer and this set includes the Illuminating version, which doesn't add a lot of shimmer or glitter, just brightens up the under-eye area. The shades do seem to run a bit lighter than the original as well, so keep that in mind when ordering.

The new Bye Bye Pores Illumination has a pearly finish that's not shimmery or glittery and adds a "lit from within" glow to the skin. I'm not a fan of the way most powders look on my dry skin, but I will say that this one didn't appear cakey or make my skin look extra dry. It had a really nice silky finish.

Overall, if you're interested in trying more from IT Cosmetics or need a refill on some of your skincare, this set is an excellent value!

May Anti-Haul

9

It's a new month, so that means it's time for another Anti-Haul! I actually have a lot of fun doing these and you guys keep asking me to do more of them, so as long as the new releases keep coming fast and furious, I'll keep doing them. A few years ago, I wouldn't have been doing these monthly because new makeup releases seemed to happen only a few times a year, but lately I'm always amazed by how many new products I can say I'm not buying in any given month. Stop the Insanity! :)

The Balm Even Steven Foundation Launching Soon!

3

The Balm Cosmetics will be launching a brand new foundation in June called Even Steven (I just love their product names...so cute!).
I saw this photo on Instagram on @lapetitechicmommy's account and she said that the texture is "soooo fluffy, light, and airy (like a souffle)!" Sounds intruguing!

It's going to be $22 and comes in 8 shades with a natural matte finish:

  • Lighter than light
  • Light
  • Light Medium
  • Medium
  • Medium Dark
  • Dark
  • After Dark
I'll update you guys when I have more information about the launch date, but I can expect we'll be seeing this pop up at Kohls sometime next month!

What are your thoughts? Would you try this one?

Pretty Vulgar Stick to the Story Tinted Lip Balm Review

0
pretty vulgar stick to the story tinted lip balm
When Pretty Vulgar arrived at Sephora a few weeks ago, I was so excited for the beautiful packaging and I was hoping that the products themselves would perform just as beautifully. One product that caught my eye was the Stick to the Story Tinted Lip Balm ($24). I have about a million tinted lip balms (and most of them are far less expensive) but I will fully admit that I purchased this product for the packaging alone. Totally guilty!

So let's take a look and see if the balm is as beautiful as the packaging!

bareMinerals All-in-One Wonders 5-Piece BB Eyeshadow Collection Review

2
If you've been following me since my Budget Beauty Blog days, you might remember me raving about the bareMinerals 5-in-1 BB Cream Eyeshadows . They're a holy grail product for me and I think they are one of the most underrated makeup products...I never hear anyone talking about them (but they should because they're fantastic)!

So when I saw the new All-in-One Wonders 5-piece collection launch at QVC, I knew I had to buy it, especially since there are two brand new exclusive shades in here and the other three shades are ones that I don't already own. Also, summer is coming and these are one of those easy, simple products I reach for when it's hot outside and I don't feel like wearing a lot of makeup.

Let's take a look!

Maybelline Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liner Review & Swatches

2
I've always been a big fan of Maybelline's lip products, so of course I couldn't wait to try the new Color Sensational Lip Liners when I heard they were coming out. I picked up a few shades when they first launched in stores and planned to review them here on the blog, but then Maybelline generously offered to send me all of the shades to try, which is even better! So I held off until I could have all thirteen colors to swatch for you guys.

Let's take a look!

The Tarte 7-Piece Custom Kit is Back!

1

Once or twice a year, Tarte Cosmetics offers a 7-piece Custom Kit that you can create for an incredible price and it's live, today only!
You can choose your bag (there's a unicorn one this year!), foundation, blush, lip product, eyeliner, mascara and brush for only $63, which works out to $9 per piece.

While not every product in their line is part of this deal, they give you at least four options to choose from in each category, so you're likely to find something that works for you.

Here's what I picked (the foundation and blush alone add up to $64 so it's like getting the rest for free!).
I'm really excited to try the Confidence Creamy Powder Foundation. I always look at it when I'm in Ulta but never pulled the trigger. Since I have dry skin, the only time powder foundations work for me is in the summer and I actually prefer them to liquids when it's hot and sticky outside.

Available now at TarteCosmetics.com

Are you getting this deal? Let me know what you think in the comments below! :)

Beauty Chat: What do you Struggle With When It Comes to Makeup?

30
Hey Guys, I hope you're having a great week so far! I thought it might be fun to break away from my usual content every once in a while and do a Beauty Chat, where we talk about a specific beauty-related topic.

Today's topic is something that's been on my mind lately...What do you Struggle With When it Comes to Makeup?

Today Only! Peter Thomas Roth Super-Size 3 Piece Mask Collection on QVC

4
There are some fantastic deals happening today only on Peter Thomas Roth products at QVC, including the new Super-Size 3-Piece Mask Collection ($79). I've been a PTR fan since about 2005 (so for about 12 years now!) but for some reason, I hadn't tried any of his masks (except for the Cucumber one) until now. I just have to say... I was really missing out!

QVC was kind enough to send me the Super-Size Mask Trio in advance so that I could try them and let you guys know my thoughts. I've been using these for about a week now and I feel like I finally know what all the hype is about!

Ciate Glow-To Illuminating Blush Now at Sephora

0
The Ciate Glow-To Illuminating Blush ($26) has arrived at Sephora and they get my vote for the prettiest blush of 2017 so far!

Each shade of blush is fused with a little bit of highlight and because of the technique they use to create them, no two are exactly alike (but each one has the same amount of blush and highlight).

The Glow-To blushes are supposed to last 12 hours and have a "lightweight, second-skin finish for a radiant no-makeup look". They can also be built up for more of a date-night glow.

There are six shades on the Sephora website (two are already out of stock) and five on the Ciate site (all shades are available).

Shades Include:

  • In Too Deep (Sephora only)- Lavender Pink (Pictured at the top of this post)
  • Summer Love- Apricot Pink
  • Pinch Me- Punchy Pink
  • Baby Doll- Rose Pink
  • Date Night- Amber Pink
  • Matchmaker- Burnt Pink
I don't always enjoy shimmery blushes, especially if they have chunky glitter, but when done right with a finely milled glow, they can be gorgeous...especially in the warmer weather. These are so pretty, I'm willing to give them a try!

What do you guys think? Will you be trying any of the Ciate Glow-To Blushes?

Available now at Sephora.com and CiateLondon.com
