Clarins Lip OIl Giveaway!

0
Hey Guys! I hope you're having a great weekend! I just wanted to let you know about a giveaway I'm having over on Instagram. I'm not sure if you're all following me over there and I didn't want you to miss out.

I've teamed up with Clarins to give away some of their Instant Light Lip Comfort Oils...they're my favorite lip treatment and they come in new shades like Tangerine, Candy, and Honey Glam. Unlike other lip oils, they don't leave your lips feeling dry...they keep your lips feeling moisturized for hours and some also leave behind a sheer wash of color.

Two winners will receive the box you see above with all 7 shades ($182 value) and three more winners will receive the Lip Oil of their choice ($26 value), for a total of 5 winners. :)

To enter, just head on over to my Instagram page and Good Luck!!

The Lorac Beauty and the Beast Lip Gloss Collection ($34 at Kohls) is gracing my vanity at the moment and putting all of my other lip products to shame with its beautiful packaging. From the shiny gold caps to the golden roses and vines along the tube, these are just so pretty to look at!
Included in the collection are five lip glosses, in mostly nude shades with a single pop of red.

#SwatchMyStash Project on Instagram

0

For those of you who aren't following me on Instagram, I wanted to let you know about a series I'm doing over there called #SwatchMyStash!  I have a pretty large collection of eyeshadow palettes and I feel like I've been in a rut, just using the same few over and over again.
So I decided to look through my collection and choose a different palette to use every day, focusing on those that I haven't talked about recently. Then I've been swatching them all and posting them to my Instagram page! So if you'd like to see all of the makeup I've rediscovered, head on over to Instagram and give my page a follow! :)

Also, I have a few awesome giveaways coming up on Instagram...one is starting tomorrow and the other will start once I get to 100k followers, (I'm at 99.5 at the moment!) so you don't want to miss those!

Lorac Beauty and the Beast Cheek Palette Review & Swatches
I love a good blush palette, and the Lorac Beauty and the Beast Cheek Palette ($28 at Kohls) might be the prettiest one I've owned to date. Everything about it is beautiful, from the packaging to the shades inside and I've found myself using it a lot this summer, even taking it on vacation with me.

Let's take a look!

IT Cosmetics IT's Your 30 Seconds to Flawless-Looking Skin TSV

8
The IT Cosmetics IT's Your 30 Seconds to Flawless-Looking Skin officially launches at midnight tonight on QVC as the Today's Special Value but you can shop it now before your shade sells out! This set is $49.14 (a $118 value) and includes two full-sized Celebration Foundation SPF50+ compacts, as well as a Heavenly Luxe Angled Buffing Foundation Brush.
First let's talk about the brush...it is so super soft, and I'm not surprised because IT Cosmetics makes the best brushes on the market in my opinion. I'm also loving the sleek holographic handle this time versus the usual silver...it's so pretty!

If you haven't tried Celebration Foundation yet, I'll just say that it's a powder foundation that's unlike any other I've tried. I've been using it for about 3 years now (although this is my first time trying the SPF50+ version) and it's just about the only powder foundation that plays nicely with my dry skin. It gives a flawless finish and tons of coverage with a creamy feel that doesn't accentuate dry patches, pores or lines/wrinkles. I mainly use it in the warmer weather months because it's so quick and easy to use...just swirl your brush in the compact and buff it into your skin. It literally takes 30 seconds and you're done. One layer gives me medium coverage but if I want to add a bit more in certain places  I can do so without fear of  looking "powdery" or like I've applied too much.

Here's a swatch of the Light shade and it's an almost perfect match for my skin...it almost disappears except that it's slightly more yellow-toned against my cool-toned complexion.

Overall, if you love Celebration Foundation like I do, this is the time to stock up! Just one compact retails for $35 and for $14.14 more, you're getting a second foundation and the brush.

Are you already a fan of Celebration Foundation? Will you be picking this one up?

Photo: @colourpopcosmetics on Instagram

Colourpop Cosmetics is launching four brand new products today at 10am Pacific (1pm Eastern), as well as restocking the Yes Please! palette (which I keep missing out on so I'm definitely grabbing it this time).

First up is their No Filter Concealer ($6). It comes in 15 shades and is full coverage and creaseproof. I'm really excited about this one because I'm hoping it'll be like Tarte's Shape Tape (fingers crossed!).

Beauty Chat: Do You Prefer Drugstore or High-End Makeup?

25

When I was growing up, we didn't have a lot of money and when I graduated from high school, I decided to go straight into the workforce (I didn't get my degree until much later) . I worked at various retail jobs, until my mid-30's, basically living paycheck to paycheck, so when it came to makeup, hair products, skincare, etc., I only bought drugstore. It honestly blows my mind now when I go into Sephora and see high school girls picking out Natasha Denona and Viseart palettes...it's just crazy to me.
My only experience with higher end makeup was when I worked at Sephora but I couldn't actually afford to buy any of the products we sold. Sometimes we would get products for free from the brands but for the most part, I would go in to work early and use the makeup we had in the store. I think back to that and get really skeeved out because those were testers that everyone in the world was touching...but we were required to wear the products we sold, so I did what I had to do.

When I left that job, I went right back to drugstore products again so I guess you could say it's what I'm comfortable with and thus what I naturally gravitate towards. I realize that some high-end products are better quality with better ingredients, and are often made in the U.S or Europe rather than China, but there are exceptions. Drugstore brands have gotten good to the point where I actually prefer certain mascaras. concealers, blushes, and lip products over their high-end counterparts. Even eyeshadows have come a long way (though I still prefer high-end eyeshadows overall). I also tend to splurge on skincare but lately I've been finding some really great formulas at the drugstore.

For me, there's also something satisfying about getting a bunch of products all at once than saving up to get one or two things, but only if you're not sacrificing quality.

So even though things have improved financially for me, I still gravitate toward drugstore products and get really excited when new products launch. This blog is my one and only reason for owning the amount of makeup that I do, especially the higher-end products. If my blog no longer existed, I would probably go right back to buying mostly drugstore and splurging on a high-end palette here and there.

What about you? Do you prefer drugstore makeup, high-end, or a mix of both?

Lorac Beauty and the Beast PRO Eyeshadow Palette Review

5
I know I'm a little late to the party on this one, but let's talk about the Lorac Beauty and the Beast Palette ($48) for a minute, because it's just that gorgeous. It actually arrived on my doorstep the day before I left on a two-week vacation back in June so I wasn't able to post about it when it initially launched.
But thankfully it's still available, so if you've been wavering and trying to make up your mind about this one, read on for my review and swatches!

Lorac LA Palette Swatches

lorac LA Palette swatches
Lorac just released five new Los Angeles-inspired palettes this week ($24 each at Ulta Beauty), which I shared with you in another post, but now I have swatches! Lorac posted them to their Instagram page and I'm kind of wishing I didn't see them because now I want almost all of these palettes!

TONS of New IT Cosmetics Products Launching Soon

7
IT Cosmetics is one of those brands that I get giddy about when they release new products. Just off the top of my head I can think of so many their products that have become staples in my beauty routine, such as the CC+ Cream, Bye Bye Makeup Cleansing Balm, Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer, Naturally Pretty Palette, etc.
So if you're also a fan, get ready because a ton of new products are about to drop at Ulta soon! A fellow beauty Instagrammer I follow, @Trendmood1 (I'm pretty sure you've heard of her) was lucky enough to be invited to a launch party and she took a lot of photos, which I'll be sharing in this post!

Let's just dive right in...

Anastasia Subculture + More Launching Today 9:30am PST

3
Photo is from my Instagram page (reposted from @Trendmood1)

I just wanted to remind y'all that the new Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette will be launching today at 9:30 am Pacific (12:30pm Eastern)! Also launching are the new matte lipsticks (30 shades, $18 each) and the Liquid Glow Highlighters (4 shades, $25 each).

I'm planning to wait until the palette launches at Sephora next week. When the Mario palette launched last year, I waited and got mine at Sephora with Flash shipping and it arrived faster than those that had purchased from the ABH website since they were so backed up (some people waited over 2 weeks!). So just keep that in mind if you have Sephora Flash...you might still get it sooner!

Milani Everyday Eyes Basic Mattes Review & Swatches

5

Last week, I reviewed the new Milani Everyday Eyes Palette in Must-Have Metallics, and now I wanted to share the other new palette they just launched...Basic Mattes.

I purchased it for $11 at MilaniCosmetics.com but it's also popping up at Walgreens stores (that carry Milani), so you can also check there.

Lorac Sunset Palettes and Mini Palettes Now at Ulta

5
The Lorac Sunset Palettes ($42) have arrived at Ulta.com today, which is great news if you missed out on them when they first launched on the Lorac Website a couple of weeks ago. They also released some new mini palettes ($24)!

Which ones are you planning to get? I have my eye on the Desert Sunset palette and the mini palette in the white packaging (Malibu).

Would You Spend $50 on a Drugstore Palette?

14
We all know that drugstore makeup has gotten more expensive in recent years, but NYX has just released the priciest drugstore palettes I've seen yet at Ulta.com! At $49.99 each, they are similar in price to high-end palettes from Too Faced, Anastasia, Urban Decay, and Tarte.

In their defense, these offer a lot more than eyeshadow. All three contain a full face in a palette, including blushes, bronzers, highlight/contour shades, and/or lipsticks. In the past, I've had a pretty bad experience with palettes like this...usually the quality isn't as good, but if these are high-end quality, the price might be justified for some.

Still, I tend to stay away from large palettes like this because they're bulky and I normally don't use half of what's in them. So for me, even if the quality is good, I would probably rather spend the money on a smaller high-end palette or on several different drugstore products.

What do you guys think? Would you spend $50 on a drugstore palette? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Sleek MakeUP Now at Walgreens!

2
UK-based brand Sleek MakeUP recently arrived at Ulta and now you can also find it at Walgreens, online and in 150 stores. As of now, it's not at any of the locations near me (sniff!), but I'm hoping that they just haven't put it out yet and it'll be arriving shortly. I have always wanted to try more from Sleek but ordering online internationally was always expensive and took forever.

Now, we can order from Ulta but being able to just pop over to my local Walgreens and look at everything in person is even more exciting!

Have you seen Sleek at your local Walgreens yet?

Milani Everyday Eyes Must-Have Metallics Review & Swatches

6
Milani recently released two new Everyday Eyes Palettes in Basic Mattes and Must-Have Metallics ($11).  I purchased them both, since I loved the ones I bought last year during the original release...they're some of the nicest eyeshadows at the drugstore!

So far I've only found these online at MilaniCosmetics.com but several of you have told me on social media that you've seen them in a new display at Walgreens, so if your local store sells Milani, you can also check there. In my area, it's hard to find Milani at the drugstore so rather than go on the hunt, I decided to just order them online (they arrived in about 4-5 days).

New Bath & Body Brands at Ulta

8
Ulta Beauty has added four bath & body brands to their lineup this week and I have to say...I'm really excited to try something new! These days, the makeup world has been on fire with new products coming out left and right and I feel like I haven't been focused on anything else.

I really love shopping for bath & body products but lately I've been feeling like nothing was exciting me. I actually walked into Bath and Body Works yesterday and walked out empty-handed because nothing was jumping out at me. So needless to say, I can't wait to check out some of Ulta's new offerings.

Let's take a look!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette Launching July 25 + SWATCHES

13
anastasia beverly hills subculture palette
Photo @Trendmood1 on Instagram
Anastasia Beverly Hills just gave us the first official look at their new Subculture Palette on Instagram this morning and there's already a big divide between those who love it and those who are confused by it. I admit, when I first saw it, I thought it looked like a mish-mosh of different shades that don't really go together but the more I studied it, the more I realized that it's actually kind of genius.
Palettes like the Modern Renaissance are awesome but the entire palette has the same color scheme so a lot of the looks you create with it end up looking very similar. With this palette, you have warmer fall shades like chocolate brown, mustard, and olive green, along with cooler grays, blues, and purples.
abh subculture palette

I can see using the cool gray Mercury shade as a transition with either of the blue shades (Axis or Untamed), as well as the eggplant shade Rowdy. I would pair the mustard, green and brown shades together and use the shimmery Electric shade as a pop on the lid. Or I would create a warm-toned eye with Roxy, Fudge, and All-Star.

Swatches: @anastasiabeverlyhills on Instagram

I think the best thing about this palette is all of the vastly different looks you can create with it, rather than having one palette with a bunch of similar colors. The latter is great if you love a certain color scheme but if you're looking for bang for your buck, the former gives you more versatility.

What are your thoughts? I'd love to know what you think!

Available at Anastasia Beverly Hills on July 25th and online at Sephora, Ulta, Macy's, and Dillards on August 1. It'll arrive in-store August 15th.

Too Faced White Chocolate Bar for Holiday 2017

14
too faced white chocolate bar

Too Faced just released a preview of their Holiday 2017 collection on Allure.com, including the new White Chocolate Bar Palette! It includes pastel shades and that delicious cocoa scent. I'm still trying to figure out if I need this one but I have to admit, I'm happy to see some colors that aren't warm neutrals!

What are your thoughts on the White Chocolate Bar? Yay or Nay?

To see the rest of the holiday goodies, head on over to Allure.com.

Lottie London The Rusts Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

2
UK-based makeup brand Lottie London just launched at Ulta last month, and since I love discovering new products (especially affordable ones!), I picked up a few products to try including The Rusts Eyeshadow Palette ($12.99). From the photos online, it looked like it could be a possible dupe for the Urban Decay Naked Heat palette and I've been getting tons of requests for a comparison (which is at the end of this post).

But first things first, let's take a closer look at The Rusts Palette!

Essence Fall 2017 Arrives at Ulta Beauty

4
A bunch of new Essence products just dropped at Ulta.com and there are quite a few that I'm ready to add to my cart including the new Eye & Face Palette ($5.99), Instant Matt Setting Spray ($4.99), All About Toffee Palette ($5.49), and Color Correcting Sticks ($4.49 each). There are also two new mascaras that I've been using for a few weeks now (stay tuned for a review on those!) as well as new metallic lipsticks.

What's on your list? Are you a fan of Essence Cosmetics?

Available now at Ulta.com (also a reminder that the new Wet n Wild Megaglo highlighters I reviewed last week are also available at Ulta starting today!).

Review: Is the New Sephora Pro Warm Eyeshadow Palette Worth the Price?

7
sephora pro warm palette review
The Sephora PRO Pigment Palette in Warm ($68) is one of three brand new eyeshadow palettes from Sephora Collection.  It was created by fifteen top makeup artists from the Sephora PRO team, and comes in Warm, Cool, and Editorial (bright) versions. I chose the Warm version because I thought it would be really pretty for the upcoming fall season, and also because the shade selection looks remarkably similar to the Natasha Denona Sunset Palette. I don't own the Sunset Palette, so I'm not able to compare the two, but I was definitely curious about the formula since $68 is pretty steep for a palette from Sephora Collection. In the past, their formula has been pretty hit or miss for me, so I was excited to see if this was a step up for them. Let's take a look!

NEW Lorac Unzipped Sunset Palettes

10

Lorac Cosmetics has just released three new Unzipped palettes ($42) and if you're a fan of the originals, you're probably just as excited as I am!

The new versions are all inspired by Southern California sunsets:

Mountain Sunset "embraces the bluffs through richly hued shades inspired by breathtaking sunsets, rich flora, and the crystallized inner workings of nature's most impressive structures".

Ocean Sunset "embraces the call of the sea through richly hued shades inspired by sea-foamy shores, majestic sunsets, and the alluring mysteries of the deep".

Desert Sunset "embraces the badlands and heat through richly hued shades inspired by radiant sun-rimmed mountains, striated cirrus clouds, and alabaster stretches of sand that shimmer at sunset".

They're currently sold out at LoracCosmetics.com but they'll be launching at Ulta Beauty very soon...I'll keep you posted!

New Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighters + Swatches

2
new wet n wild megaglo highlighting powder

Wet n Wild has just released four brand new shades of their Megaglo Highlighting Powders ($4.99) and I was able to snag them all earlier this week to swatch for you guys! I loved the soft, smooth formula of the original two that came out (Precious Petals and Crown of My Canopy) but they were too deep for my fair/light skin tone. I kept hoping that they would release more shades and they finally did (yay!).

The four new shades are as follows:

Blossom Glow- pale champagne shimmer.
Botanic Dream- pale pink shimmer.
Golden Flower Crown- light gold shimmer.
Royal Calyx- pale lavender shimmer.

I've only had these for a day so I haven't tried them on my face yet, but I'm thinking that Blossom Glow and Botanic Dream will work out really well for me as highlighters, and the others can always be used as eyeshadows!

What are your thoughts? Will you be trying any of these new shades?

NYX Away We Glow Illuminating Powder Review
NYX released some new summer products last month and one of the things I couldn't resist picking up were these Away We Glow Illuminating Powders ($10 each). By the name you would think that they were highlighters but they actually add some really pretty color to your cheeks with a glowy finish.

Let's take a look!

NEW Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipsticks at Sephora

0
bite beauty amuse bouche liquified lipstick
Bite Beauty fans rejoice...you can now get the Amuse Bouche Lipsticks in a liquified version, and it's not your typical liquid lipstick.

The formula is handcrafted in small batches, moisture-rich, and highly pigmented. They contain monoi butter and coconut oil that melt at the temperature of your lips for a beautiful, satiny finish that's not drying. They come in 12 brand new shades that look very wearable and I have my eye on several, including Whip, Chutney, Eclair, and Candied.

What are your thoughts? Will you be picking any of these up?

Available exclusively at Sephora.com (online only) for $24 each.

Touch In Sol No Pore Blem Primer Review

1
touch in sol no pore blem primer

I have a new favorite face primer and it's awesome! I picked it up the new Touch in Sol No Pore Blem (see what they did there?) primer at Sephora ($18) after hearing rave reviews on YouTube and I'm so glad I did.

It's a pore-filling primer like the Benefit POREfessional but it has a creamier, more hydrating formula. I love the POREfessional and have used it forever because it does such a great job at hiding my pores but the downside to it (for me) is that it's a very dry formula that's really meant for more normal to oily skin types. As a dry-skinned girl, the POREfessional can sometimes make my skin feel a little too matte and accentuate flakes, particularly in the wintertime. This one doesn't do that at all...and it hides pores just as well, if not better.

It has a very creamy feel and I honestly wasn't expecting it to smooth out my skin so well because primers that feel like this usually end up making my skin feel soft...but that's about it.

It reminds me of a lighter-weight version of the L'oreal Studio Secrets primer which is another favorite of mine. But that one has a very thick, paste-like consistency and I don't like wearing it in the summer because it's too heavy. No Pore Blem is lightweight and it doesn't feel like it's smothering my skin in the humid weather.

I'm not sure if this makes my makeup last any longer, but it gives my dry, rough skin a super smooth appearance, so I find myself using less foundation overall. If you're looking for a primer with some serious smoothing power, give this one a try...it's fantastic!

It's currently sold out at Sephora but I was also able to find it at Urban Outfitters and Amazon.com

Macy's Black Friday In July Sale Starts Today!

2
Macy's Black Friday in July sale is live starting today and there are some great deals on beauty (and everything else too!). A lot of the Impulse items from brands like Tarte, Anastasia, Benefit, and more are 50% off, along with free shipping/returns and free gifts with purchase.

I love the bareMinerals Pop of Passion Lip Oil-Balm that I bought last summer and at $8, I can't resist picking up a few more. I also have my eye on that new Tarte palette because I just can't resist them, especially when they include a blush (yes, I have makeup addiction problems!).

Have you shopped the sale? I'd love to know what you got!

Jordana Blushes are One of the Best at the Drugstore (and Under $3)

3
jordana blush review
I've been really making an effort to shop my stash more often, so when I came across these Jordana Blushes in a drawer recently, I fell in love with them all over again.

They're only $2.99 each, Made in the U.S.A., come in twenty-four shades, and apply beautifully. They're nicely pigmented, but not so much that you risk clown cheeks. I think it's because they just blend so effortlessly without streaking or depositing too much color in one spot...they have a really soft texture and pick up easily with a brush.
jordana blush swatches

I currently own six shades and I've already placed an order for more...they're just that good. You can find them in-store but it's not always easy. I got these initial six shades at Kmart and I've recently seen them at Primark (which is only in the Northeast in the US right now). Walgreens doesn't carry the blushes, even though they carry Jordana.

So if you're looking for a great blush, I highly recommend checking these out. They're so underrated and a fantastic hidden drugstore gem.

NEW Wet n Wild MegaGlo Highlighters Just Launched

4

Hey Guys, Happy Monday! I'm just back from vacation and things are starting off with a bang...Wet n Wild just released four brand new Megaglo Highlighter Shades. I absolutely love the formula of these but the two initial shades they launched (Precious Petals and Crown of my Canopy) were both too dark for my fair skin tone.

So needless to say, I'm really happy to see a very light pink, as well as a deeper pink shade that could be a really pretty blush topper or shimmery blush on my skin. I'm not sure about the golden shade yet but it looks like it might be somewhat light in color...I can't wait to see it in person. I doubt I would ever wear the lavender shade but it's nice to see some variety from a drugstore brand for those who do like "non-conventional" colors.

New shades are:

  • Blossom Glow (Top Left)
  • Golden Flower Crown (Top Right)
  • Royal Calyx (Bottom Left)
  • Botanic Dream (Bottom Right)
Will you be getting one? What do you think of the new shades?

Vacation

3
Hey Guys! I just wanted to let you know that I've been on vacation since last week and that's why you haven't been seeing any posts go up (I meant to post this earlier!). We were at the Jersey Shore last week and even though we're home now, my husband is still off for the remainder of this week, so we'll be doing day trips and seeing family and friends.

I'll be back to regular posting here on the blog on Monday July 10th, but I'm still posting every day on Instagram! So if you'd like to see what's new with me and first impressions of some new products I've recently purchased, be sure to follow me over there. :)

Have a happy and blessed Fourth of July and be safe! See you next week.

XOXO

Jen
