Anastasia Beverly Hills just gave us the first official look at their new Subculture Palette on Instagram this morning and there's already a big divide between those who love it and those who are confused by it. I admit, when I first saw it, I thought it looked like a mish-mosh of different shades that don't really go together but the more I studied it, the more I realized that it's actually kind of genius.
Palettes like the Modern Renaissance are awesome but the entire palette has the same color scheme so a lot of the looks you create with it end up looking very similar. With this palette, you have warmer fall shades like chocolate brown, mustard, and olive green, along with cooler grays, blues, and purples.I can see using the cool gray Mercury shade as a transition with either of the blue shades (Axis or Untamed), as well as the eggplant shade Rowdy. I would pair the mustard, green and brown shades together and use the shimmery Electric shade as a pop on the lid. Or I would create a warm-toned eye with Roxy, Fudge, and All-Star.

What are your thoughts? I'd love to know what you think!
Available at Anastasia Beverly Hills on July 25th and online at Sephora, Ulta, Macy's, and Dillards on August 1. It'll arrive in-store August 15th.
Hey Jen! I'm intrigued by this: I love the assortment of different colors, especially the cooler tones. I will be purchasing this from ABH ASAP (unless it sells out first). -- Christina D.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, it's something different for once! I'm getting it too! :)
DeleteI really love that I can depend on your channel to keep me up to date on all of the new releases. I'm not on many of the social media platforms, but since I came across your blog, and bookmarked it almost daily check-ins, I feel like I'm "in the know". Thanks. :)
ReplyDeleteBtw, I kind of like the palette. I don't have anything quite like it. Whether I'll get it is another story.
Hi Marx! Aww thank you SO much, that means a lot to me that you visit often! :) I agree, this palette is definitely unique!
DeleteLike the palette but not sure if this is a most have.
ReplyDeleteYeah I hear you, I was going back and forth on it for a while and wondering if I really "needed" it. But in the end, I decided to get it because it's different than all the other palettes I have. :)
DeleteCan you give an update on the palette once you've played around with it?
DeleteI definitely will! I'm not planning to purchase it the day it comes out at ABH.com because I'm going on vacation the following week and I'm afraid it'll be sitting in front of my house for days. I'm going to order from Sephora when it launches next week and I have flash shipping since I'm Rouge so who knows, it might even get here faster! Last time a lot of people had a long wait when they ordered from ABH.
DeleteI love it. It's different (not another all-brown or all orange-red one), and ABH quality is tops. I saw on Instagram where someone else pointed out quad combos within the palette and then it all gelled for me. I'll wait 'til Ulta gets it so I can accumulate points, but it's definitely coming home with me.
ReplyDeleteYes! I totally feel the same way and if you study the palette for a bit, you can start to see how you would use it. It took me a while but I finally decided it will be a really versatile palette to have in my collection. :)
DeleteI know it launches today, but does anyone know what time?
ReplyDeletemy question too!! I'm looking out for it..
DeletePrevious launches were typically in the morning, somewhere between 9-11am PST (or Noon-2pm Eastern). :)
