Lorac Beauty and the Beast PRO Eyeshadow Palette Review

5
I know I'm a little late to the party on this one, but let's talk about the Lorac Beauty and the Beast Palette ($48) for a minute, because it's just that gorgeous. It actually arrived on my doorstep the day before I left on a two-week vacation back in June so I wasn't able to post about it when it initially launched.
But thankfully it's still available, so if you've been wavering and trying to make up your mind about this one, read on for my review and swatches!

First things first, the packaging! It's definitely on the bulky side for an eyeshadow palette, and looks like a hardcover book, complete with a red ribbon bookmark. A magnetic clasp starts on the side and comes up and over the front of the "book" to keep it secure.

Inside, the mirror is decorated to look ornate, like it came from inside the Beast's castle and underneath is the quote, " Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind". I love seeing that every time I open this palette.

There are 16 shades total in both matte and shimmer finishes. This is the Lorac PRO formula that we know and love, and it's extremely easy to blend, soft, and pigmented. Above the eyeshadows is another quote, "True Beauty is Found Within" and along the side, there's a double-ended brush.

The shade range is on the cooler side and I love that this looks so different than a lot of the warm-toned palettes we've been seeing everywhere lately. Rather than leaning toward one color scheme like rosy tones or smoky shades, it has a nice variety so you can create a lot of different looks.

Looking at the swatches, this palette appears neutral overall with some pretty pops of color here and there, like cool-toned pinks as well as a deep blue.
Overall, I just love this palette, both because it's that awesome Lorac quality I've come to expect from them and also because Beauty and the Beast is hands-down my favorite Disney movie. I feel like this palette really captures the vibe of the film, both with the packaging and the shade selection.
Definitely a winner for me!

What about you? Did you purchase this when it first came out? Still thinking about it?

  1. Hey Jen! Yes, I purchased it because, like you, I love Lorac's Pro formula (but I admit to not liking their other formulations). I haven't had a chance to apply it yet but the swatches are lovely. Also, like you, Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney movie, but I prefer the animated one to the new live action version. -- Christina D.

  2. I love the look of this one but am hoping it goes on sale like the PotC one did. Can't justify $48 for the tiny pans, but I really love how each row is a coherent look.

p.s. Is there really a green?

    1. Nope, no green! Haha why did I write that?? Must have been thinking of something else. :)

  3. Ha ha, if you're like me, I thought there **should** have been a green! For the rose stem. ;-)

  4. I bought the blush palette instead of this. While this palette looks amazing, I'm glad I went with the blush. I'm so happy they came out with some B&tB makeup for the recent movie, which I loved.
