My First BoxyCharm Unboxing

4
To say that I'm over subscription boxes is an understatement. I cancelled Birchbox and Ipsy years ago and while I had some hope that I would love the Sephora Play and Macy's subscription boxes, I ended up getting rid of those as well. Rarely did I discover something new that I could use...I kept getting the same things over and over again (how many little tubes of the POREfessional does one person need?) and I had a huge bin of samples sitting in my room that started to give me anxiety as it overflowed onto the carpet.

So why did I end up trying yet another box? Because BoxyCharm seemed different. It's $21 a month so it's double the price of Sephora Play, Ipsy, and Birchbox and $5 more than Macy's...BUT you get 4-5 full sized products, not samples!

Not to mention that I was paying $25 a month between Sephora Play and Macy's anyway so I just cancelled them both in favor of BoxyCharm.

And guess what? I'm super happy with September's box...we're off to a great start! Let's take a look...

The first product I received was the Pur Cosmetics Soiree Diaries Palette ($34). I already own this palette but I'm so impressed that they included a full palette in a subscription box! The retail value of the palette is already more than the cost of the box and it's an awesome palette. I say this a lot, but Pur Cosmetics eyeshadows are some of the best in my opinion and I often wonder why more people aren't talking about them!

This one has 8 velvety matte shades and four shimmery metallics. Each one is highly pigmented and soft and there are no duds to be had in this palette. I would recommend it even as a one-time purchase (it's available on sale right now at Kohls) because it's so fantastic...especially if you like neutrals.

Since I own this one, I'm giving it away on Instagram right now along with some other Pur products, so be sure to check that out! :)

Next up, they included a Satin Liquid Lipstick from Colourpop in the shade Strut ($6) which is a pretty nude-mauve shade. I really love the Satin formula as it still dries down pretty matte but doesn't look or feel dry on my lips.

They sent a MAC Brow Definer in the shade Lingering ($18) which is actually the perfect shade for my cool-toned, light brown brows.

Also included is the StudioMakeup Luminous Loose Blush which I can't find on their website, but looks to retail for around $18 based on similar items. The blush is really soft and pretty and blends easily on the skin. I'm really enjoying it!

The last two items in the box were the Briogeo Don't Dispair, Repair Hair Mask ($20) which I have tried before and I really like it! I'm just so glad to have a larger tube to use because the samples I've gotten in previous boxes barely covered the length of my hair. With this tube I can get at least a few uses out of it.
The Bodyography Duo Brush Set ($20) includes an angled liner brush and an eyeshadow brush and they seem to be really nice quality (although I haven't tried them yet).

Overall, I'm really happy with BoxyCharm so far and next month's box already looks like it's going to be good based on the 2 spoilers I'm seeing so far! It looks like we'll be getting Becca's Prosecco Pop Highlighter ($38) in either the powder or liquid formula as well as a Dr. Brandt PoreDermabrasion ($58).  So if you want to get in on next month's box, be sure to sign up now.

Have you tried BoxyCharm yet? I'd love to hear about your experience!

To sign up, please visit BoxyCharm.com. Subscriptions are $21 per month (and as low as $19.25 a month if you subscribe for a longer period of time).

  3. Aww I love my Ipsy bags. Also Sephora play boxes seemed to small for the price an everything was sample sized. I should check out BoxyCharm.

  4. This will be my first Boxycharm box too, my tracking says it will be here next week. And there's a 3rd spoiler for October as well, a full size Tarte matte lip paint!
