100% Pure Gemmed Luminizer in Moonstone Glow Review
I have recently discovered the brand 100% Pure and totally fell in love with their products (and their philosophy). They create beautiful makeup and skincare formulas in gorgeous packaging that's made with 100% natural ingredients. All of their products are cruelty-free, 100% free of artificial colors, artificial fragrances, synthetic chemical preservatives and all other toxins. They even dye their products using pigments derived from fruit...how cool is that?!

Testing This Week: Pixi Beauty Face Mists

4

Pixi Beauty recently sent me all four of their face mists and I've been testing them out this week, so I thought I would share my first impressions with you! They're all available at Target and are $15 each, which is around the same price as the L'oreal Infallible Setting Spray and just a few dollars more than the Maybelline version. The best part is, these aren't just setting sprays...they actually do a lot more!

Three of them are brand new to me (I've been using the Glow Mist for about a year now) so I was really excited to try the other three and incorporate them into my routine. Here's the breakdown of each formula:

NEW SHADES of the Physicians Formula Butter Blushes Coming Soon!

6
Physicians Formula just announced on Instagram that they will be adding two new shades to their Butter Blush lineup! This is great news since I love the formula but thought that the first two shades were too light, even for my fair skin tone.

I will definitely be picking both of these new shades up as soon as I see them in stores. What about you? Are they on your list?

Makeup Revolution The Matte Blush Review

7
makeup revolution the matte blush in nude
You guys know that I'm all about a beautiful matte blush, and I recently found a great affordable option at Ulta from Makeup Revolution. The Matte Blush is $5 and comes in three shades (I wish there were more!). I picked up the shade Nude to try because it's exactly the kind of color I like to wear on a daily basis...it's a perfect peachy-pink nude.

The formula is soft and highly pigmented (you don't even have to swirl your brush in the pan, just tap it lightly). It blends beautifully on the cheeks and looks really natural. Plus, since it's matte you don't have to worry about it accentuating any texture you might have on your face, such as pores, lines, or acne scars.

Makeup Revolution The Matte Blush in Nude
On the Ulta website, the Nude shade looks more brown but it's definitely more of a peachy pink shade. I decided to go through my blush collection and pulled out some similar shades to see if I could find any dupes.

While it's not an exact dupe for anything I have, it comes very close to all of these options!
makeup revolution the matte blush

Overall, if you like matte blushes, I highly recommend grabbing one of these the next time you're at Ulta (or if you're placing an order during the 21 Days of Beauty). It was an impulse buy for me but now that I know how much I love it, I will probably pick up the other two shades next time they're on BOGO.
Have you tried the Makeup Revolution Matte Blushes yet? I'd love to hear your comments below! :)

Full Face, One Palette Challenge Using the Tarte Tartelette in Bloom

0
I've seen the Full Face, One Palette challenge on YouTube and I was recently inspired to do it after watching Jamie Paige complete her entire makeup look (minus foundation, concealer and mascara) using only the Tarte Tartelette in Bloom Palette (you can check out her video here). The Tartelette in Bloom is a palette I reach for a lot but I never thought about using it all over my face!
Let's take a look and see what happened...

NARSissist Loaded Eyeshadow Palette Now Available

The new Nars NARSissist Loaded Eyeshadow Palette ($59) has just landed at Sephora and Ulta and although it is pricey, I decided to order it today (it's only available online) because these are totally my kind of shades! I also don't own any Nars eyeshadows and I figured it was time to add some to my collection.

Here's a list of the shades:

  • Newbury Street (white gold shimmer),
  • Windsor (warm beige matte), Privilege (gold metallic),
  • Dover (neutral brown matte),
  • Foix (peach matte),
  • Castille (umber brown matte),
  • Alnwick (copper shimmer),
  • Beaumaris (chocolate brown shimmer),
  • Splendor (pewter sparkle),
  • Versailles (bronze shimmer),
  • Montaillou (dark brown matte),
  • Reale (black satin)

Will you be indulging in this one? I should have mine by tomorrow and will hopefully be able to swatch it on Instagram this week, so stay tuned!

I Made My Own Coastal Scents Palette and Here's How It Turned Out

14
I've ordered from Coastal Scents before (I have a few of their Revealed Palettes) but I only recently discovered from poking around on their site that you can create your own palettes! As a beauty blogger, I try lots of different eyeshadow palettes from many different brands, but I often think about how much fun it would be to create my own and choose the colors and finishes that my ideal palette would have.

Essence Matt Matt Matt Lipstick Review

2
essence matt matt matt lipstick review
I've never been into the whole matte liquid lipstick trend because I find them to be too drying, but there are times when I don't want a glossy lip look and prefer something with a matte finish. I recently picked up a few of the Essence Matt Matt Matt lipsticks at Ulta after hearing Tati (Glamlifeguru on You Tube) raving about them and I'm so happy I did!

Ulta 21 Days of Beauty Recommendatoons & Wish List

11

The Ulta 21 Days of Beauty sale starts today and there are some fantastic deals to be had! I wanted to share my recommendations with you (things I've tried and loved) and also my wishlist of things that I'll be buying during the sale.

Let's take a look!

Fiona Stiles Beauty 50% Off at Ulta

1
Fiona Stiles beauty is 50% off at Ulta today, including the Multidimensional Color Palette (above) that I've had my eye on recently. I've had it sitting in my cart for a while and was planning to purchase it during my next haul after hearing countless YouTubers raving about it. Good thing I waited! It's on sale for $19.50 (regularly $39) and the sale ends tomorrow.

The Fiona Stiles line has great reviews and so far I've tried the single blushes (which I love) and the Light Illusion Prism Palette (great if you like a subtle highlight!).

I'm definitely picking this up and possibly her eyeshadow palette too (which has 5 star reviews). What do you think? Will you be hauling anything?

IT Cosmetics IT's All About You Customer Favorites Collection

6
The IT Cosmetics IT's All About You Customer Favorites Collection is now available for presale on QVC.com (it's official launch is Saturday, March 18th). It features a supersize CC+ Illumination (2.53 oz.), Heavenly Skin CC+ Perfecting Brush, Superhero Elastic Stretch Mascara, and the brand new Je Ne Sais Quoi Rose Lip Treatment, all for $59.94 (or on 3 Easy Pays of $19.98).

This is an amazing value because the regular 1.08 oz sized CC+ Illumination sells for $38 in stores. Here, you're getting more than double the amount, so right there, the CC Cream would cost well over $70... more than the entire set (you're getting everything else for free, basically).

My Inner Beauty Routine...Nature's Bounty Hair, Skin, & Nails Gummies

11

You may have guessed I'm a huge beauty product junkie, but for me inner beauty has always been even more important than outer beauty. I always make sure to appreciate others for who they are as an individual and see the true beauty in someone's personality. I don't talk about it often, but I was bullied as a kid for the way I looked, so I learned early on that it's what's on the inside that's important.

There is also another kind of inner beauty that I rarely talk about here on the blog because I'm usually focused on makeup and skincare and products that go on the outside of your body. Don't get me wrong, those things are so much fun to talk about, but sometimes with the steady stream of never-ending new makeup launches, I always forget to mention how I supplement my beauty routine from the inside!

For the past six months or so, I've been taking the Nature's Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies ($9.49 at Walgreens in the beauty aisle), and the nutrients in them have definitely helped me to feel not just healthy but more beautiful as well. When Nature's Bounty contacted me and asked if I would post about them, I was thrilled because it's a product I've already been using for a while and totally believe in!

As a busy mom and full-time blogger, I don't always have the time to eat right, so sometimes I feel like my hair and my skin are missing some of the vital nutrients they need to look their best.  These gummies work to support lustrous hair, vibrant skin, and healthy nails. *

They contain 2,500 mcg of biotin (plays a role in hair, nail, and skin health), plus Vitamin E (an antioxidant that supports skin health), and Vitamin C (involved in collagen production and formation).*

For me, it's a no-brainer because if my hair, skin, and nails have the nutrients they need for a healthy foundation, then all of the products I use on the outside will work that much better!

I'm not a big fan of swallowing pills, so I prefer the gummies but Nature's Bounty also makes a softgel formula.
The gummies are a delicious strawberry flavor that I look forward to taking every day (they don't have any aftertaste that I've noticed) and are made with naturally sourced color and flavor. They are also free from artificial flavor, milk, lactose, soy, gluten, wheat, yeast, fish, or sodium.

Visit the beauty aisle of your local Walgreens to try them and then take the Nature's Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails Challenge to try them risk-free for one month. Nature's Bounty is so confident in their product that if for any reason you don't like them, they'll give you your money back (see the guarantee here). You can sign up for the challenge here.

Also, join me and Nature's Bounty for a Twitter Chat on March 23rd (2-3 pm Eastern) where I'll be sharing my best beauty tips and ways to revamp and refresh your beauty routine for Spring (you can sign up for the chat here).  Five participants will win a $50 gift card and their own bottle of Nature's Bounty Hair, Skin, & Nails Gummies.

What's your inner beauty routine? I'd love to hear about it in the comments below!

March Anti-Haul

30
A big part of my job is letting you guys know about new products that are coming on the market, and it's really easy to get excited about them at first. I truly get giddy over new makeup launches and start planning in my head what I'm going to buy, but then I take a step back and try to be more thoughtful about my purchases. I start to realize that I don't need to buy everything...even as a beauty blogger. There are just way too many companies releasing way too many products and sometimes it gets overwhelming.

A few YouTubers that I follow (I think it actually started with Kimberly Clark) have been doing Anti-Hauls and I think it's an awesome idea! So in this post, I'll go through all of the products I'm not buying this month. This isn't meant to be a negative post and I'm not slamming these products or saying that they're bad in any way...they're just something that I'm not personally into for one reason or another.

Let's take a look!

Tarte Make Believe In Yourself Collection Launching Today at 5PM Eastern

5
Photos: Popsugar

**Update! This collection is launching at 5PM Eastern time 3/15**

Tarte Cosmetics is typically known for their natural, wearable shades but this month, they're stepping outside of that box just a little bit with a beautiful new collection called Make Believe In Yourself. Launching on March 15th on their website and early access on the Sephora app on March 17th. This collection includes an eye and cheek palette, rainbow highlighter, and a unicorn-style brush set. I'm so happy to see them adding some more color into their products, but at the same time it's not anything too bright or bold...it's still totally wearable.
Let's take a closer look!

Soap & Glory Love at First Blush Review

1
Soap & Glory Love at First Blush ($15) is a multi-shade blush/highlighting powder that gives your cheeks a luminous glow.  I recently spotted this, along with the full line at my local Target and I have to say...between Target, Ulta, and Walgreens, my Soap & Glory Fix is always nearby these days! It's so awesome.

March Favorites Day 13- Finishing Powders

3
the best finishing powders
It's Day 13 of my March Favorites and today I'll be sharing my favorite finishing powders! As a dry-skinned girl, I've shied away from powders most of my life for fear that they'll make my skin look even more dry and dull, not to mention age me beyond my years. I don't get oily throughout the day, and makeup tends to stick really well to my skin so I guess I've never really found the need to set it with anything. But the past couple of years, I've discovered that a dusting of the right kind of powder can make my makeup look flawless and smooth.
Let's take a look!

3

March Favorites Day 12- Concealer

2
the best concealers
On Day 12 of my March Favorites, we'll be talking about my favorite concealers! This was a difficult choice, mainly on the drugstore side because there are a few that I reach for on a regular basis. But the two that I ended up choosing as my absolute favorites have a slight edge over the others for one reason or another.

Colleen Rothschild Discovery Kit Deal- Last Day!

Today is the last day of the Colleen Rothschild Discovery Collection sale! It's only $49 (regularly $95) and almost never goes on sale so if you've been wanting to try Colleen Rothschild, this is a great opportunity because you can sample 6 of her products all at once.

Here's what's included:

March Favorites Day 11- Foundations

10
the best foundations
Day 11 of my March Favorites is all about foundation and today I'll be talking about my top pick from the drugstore as well as my favorite high-end formula. When it comes to choosing a foundation, the number one thing I look for is something that's hydrating and won't cling to dry patches or sink into my fine lines and pores. Back in the day, I used to wear very full coverage formulas but now that I'm 39, I like a more natural-looking formula that lets my skin show through a little bit. I've found that high-coverage, matte finishes tend to age me beyond my years so I try to avoid those now at all costs.

Let's take a look!

10

March Favorites Day 10- Primers

5
the best primers for dry skin
Day 10 of my March Favorites is all about the two face primers I use most often. When it comes to primers, I want them to do three things...smooth out my rough, dry skin (so makeup goes on better), minimize texture and pores, and help my makeup to last longer.

Because my skin is so dry, I tend to reach for primers that have a heavier, more hydrating feel. If you're oily, your skin may not agree with my choices, but in the post below, I will also be mentioning the primers I use in the summer when my skin is more on the normal side.

MAC Cosmetics Coming To Ulta Beauty

6

Yesterday, Ulta Beauty announced that they will start carrying MAC Cosmetics in May! The line will be available online (but just to browse) at Ulta.com on April 23rd and in stores on May 7th.

As a beauty blogger, this is kind of weird to admit, but I've never really tried MAC products before! I only own one item, which is a blush from the Holiday 2016 collection. I really like it and want to try more but I find those beauty counters at department stores kind of intimidating. I feel like the salespeople are always trying to push me into buying things....at least that's been my experience in the past. I like to just go into a store like Ulta or Sephora and browse and swatch to my heart's content, so this news is definitely positive for me!

So what do you think of this news? Are you excited? Or not? Let me know in the comments below! :)
6

March Favorites Day 9- Mascaras

3
Day 9 of my March Favorites is all about my go-to mascaras! I'll admit I'm a total mascara junkie...every time a new formula launches I just have to try it (which is easy to do since they have to be replaced every few months). But no matter how great a mascara makes my lashes look, if it smudges underneath my eyes (which a lot of them do) or flakes everywhere it's a deal-breaker.

The two formulas that I'll be talking about today are the ones I've been reaching for over and over again for the past couple of years. I've repurchased both of these many times and I always want to have at least one of them on hand, especially if I have to go somewhere for the day. I don't mind testing new mascaras if I'm going to be home but if I'm going out, I know I can rely on these to make my lashes look amazing and not give me raccoon eyes by lunchtime.

Let's take a look!

3

March Favorites Day 8- Eyeliners

7
Day 8 of my March Favorites is all about my go-to eyeliners and I'll be talking about both liquid and pencil formulas. When it comes to liners, my main criteria are that they have to go on smooth and not drag or skip on my eyelids, have good color payoff, and they shouldn't smudge or wear off too quickly.
Let's take a look!

Hot Deal! Colleen Rothschild Discovery Collection Only $49!

  • Radiant Cleansing Balm (1 oz.)
  • Dual Enzyme Polish (.5 oz)
  • Clarifying Detox Mask (.5 oz)
  • Sheer Renewal Cream (1 oz.)
  • Extreme Recovery Cream (.5 oz)
  • Face Oil No. 9 (.14 oz)
If you've been reading my blog for a while, you probably know that I'm a huge fan of the Radiant Cleansing Balm and Sheer Renewal Cream (read my full review of the Radiant Cleansing Balm and Sheer Renewal Cream here ). I actually purchased this kit (at full price) a while ago and have been using the Extreme Recovery Cream layered with the Face Oil No. 9 at night and it makes my skin feel so plumped and soft in the morning...definitely a must if you have dry skin!

If you're looking for a new skincare routine, I highly recommend trying the Discovery Collection from Colleen Rothschild! Several of the products in this kit have become holy grail products for me and my skin has never looked better.

March Favorites Day 7- Favorite Highlighters

7
Day 7 of my March Favorites is all about highlighters! I decided to do something a little different today and include a few different highlighter "categories", since I tend to reach for different formulas depending on the type of highlight and look I'm going for.

So keep on reading to see my favorite bold highlighters, subtle highlighters, and highlighter palettes...

Now Available! Too Faced Love Light Prismatic Highlighters

2

The Too Faced Love Light Prismatic Highlighters ($30) are now available at Sephora! I was surprised to see them since the Too Faced launch is scheduled for 3/9. So far, the other products in the Spring collection aren't on the website but I'll definitely update you as soon as they arrive.

Shades include:

  • Ray of Light (rose gold)
  • Blinded By The Light (champagne)
  • You Light Up My Life (gold)
So far the reviews I've seen say that these don't swatch great on your arm but when you apply them to your face, they're amazing and go on really smooth. I think I'm leaning toward the rose gold shade since I've also heard from people on social media that the champagne shade is really frosty.

What about you? Will you be picking one (or more) of these up?

Jesse's Girl Highlight & Contour Kit Review

6
jesse's girl highlight & contour kit review
I recently had the opportunity to try the new Jesse's Girl Highlight & Contour Kit ($12.99) and I'm not gonna lie...I'm always a little intimidated by the prospect of contouring! Highlighting I can totally do, but because I'm so fair, I'm always afraid that a deeper contour powder underneath my cheekbones will be really obvious or muddy-looking. Thankfully, this new palette makes sculpting your features almost foolproof...and it's really affordable too (also scroll down to the end of the post for a 20% off discount code)!

Let's take a look...

6

March Favorites Day 6- Shimmer Blushes

2
Day 5 of my March Favorites is all about shimmer blushes!. Yesterday I covered the matte blushes I reach for most often, and while I tend to favor matte formulas because they don't highlight the texture on my face, I still love the beautiful glow a shimmery blush can give my skin. I feel like it makes me look so much more awake and refreshed, but the trick is to choose formulas that aren't overly shimmery or glittery. Read on for my picks!

NEW Tarte Spring 2017 Products

4
Tarte just launched several new products on their website today including a "filtered light" setting powder, new cream highlighters, and even a dry shampoo and vegan deodorant!

Head on over to Tarte.com to check out all the new stuff! I have my eye on that setting powder...
4

March Favorites Day 5- Matte Blushes

2
Day 5 of my March Favorites is all about matte blushes! The older I get, the more I've come to appreciate a matte finish on my cheeks...they don't accentuate my pores or make me look glittery, which is a good thing. Both of my picks today offer a highly pigmented formula that's super blendable which is really important because sometimes, a highly pigmented blush can be hard to blend and appear streaky on your face (or give you clown cheeks). Also, a little goes a long way with these, so you only need to tap your blush into the pan lightly and then build up if you need to.

New! L'oreal Age Perfect Cell Renewal Rosy Tone Moisturizer

1

L'oreal just released a brand new moisturizer at Ulta.com ($24.99 online only) called Age Perfect Cell Renewal Rosy Tone Cream.

This cream works to remove dry, dead skin cells from the surface and it also contains rosy pigments to recapture the pink tone of youthful skin that gets lost as skin ages.

According to Ulta's website:

As skin matures, its ability to renew surface cells slows down causing a buildup of dead cells on the surface. As a result, the natural pink tone is hidden and complexion becomes dull, losing its natural rosy tone of youth. Age Perfect Cell Renewal* Rosy Tone Moisturizer is an intense daily moisturizing cream enhanced with rosy pigments to instantly revive skin's rosy tone. This formula with Imperial Peony and LHA gently exfoliates dull skin and stimulates surface cell renewal every day to revive skin's natural pink tone. The Result: smooth, renewed, younger looking complexion. *Based on skin surface cell turnover
  • Renew and Revive Blushed Rosy Tone
  • Skin is Hydrated and Looks Healthier
  • Visibly Smoother Younger Looking Skin

It actually sounds really interesting, since I have dry skin that often looks dull and lackluster. I typically reach for products that contain some sort of "glowy pigments" to recapture that youthful skin look but I don't always want to look shimmery. I definitely want to give this one a try!

Becca Cosmetics just released a brand new face palette called the Sunchaser Palette ($34) at Ulta.com (in stores 3/19). It contains their Ipanema Sunset bronzer, Apricot Blossom Mineral Blush, and Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal.
I'm loving the warm tone to this palette...it'll be so beautiful for summer!

March Favorites Day 4- Nude Palettes

Happy weekend everyone! It's day 4 of my March favorites and today I'm sharing my favorite nude palettes.

March Favorites Day 3- Rosy-Toned Palettes

3
Day 3 of my March Favorites brings me to my most-used rosy-toned eyeshadow palettes.
3

March Favorites Day 2- Warm-Toned Palettes

1
Day 2 of my March Favorites features the warm-toned eyeshadow palettes I reach for most often.

Favorite Warm-Toned Palette (high-end):

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette ($42)
This probably isn't a surprise, because I've mentioned this palette pretty often, but it's honestly been my most reached-for palette since last Spring when it first launched. Even though it has some deeper smokier shades, the majority are really wearable, warm-toned, everyday shades so I can use this for literally any occasion (there are 14 shades total). For daily looks, I love dipping into the left side of the palette, using shades like Tempera, Burnt orange, Raw Sienna, and Vermeer. For a night out, I love Red Ochre, Realgar, Antique Bronze, and Cyprus Umber to create a warm, smoky eye. Aside from the shade selection, the quality is just top-notch...not many eyeshadows compare to Anastasia's formula in my opinion. They're so pigmented, easy to pick up and blend, and they last a long time on the eyes. If you've been contemplating getting this palette, my advice would be to just go for it...you won't be disappointed!

Available at Sephora, Ulta, & Macys

Favorite Warm-Toned Palette (drugstore):
NYX Ultimate Eyeshadow Palette in Warm Neutrals

I purchased this palette a few months ago and have already used it a ton. It's a very affordable version of the Modern Renaissance palette and while the formula isn't quite as amazing as Anastasia's, it's still nicely pigmented and applies beautifully to the eyes. I don't always love NYX's eyeshadows but this one is definitely an exception (it's comparable to their Avant Pop palettes if you've tried those).
I love the mix of matte and shimmer shades and just like the Modern Renaissance palette, there are plenty of everyday wearable nudes to choose from as well as richer, smokier shades (16 shades total).
Available at Target and Macy's for $17.99-$18.

What are your favorite warm-toned palettes? Are there any you would recommend for me to try next?
Stay tuned for tomorrow's post where I'll talk about my favorite Rosy-Toned Eyeshadow Palettes!

March Favorites Day 1- Makeup Brushes

15

I get so many questions from readers wondering what my favorite products are! So this month, I'll be posting a favorite item every day (then I'll do it again in September at the six month mark to see what's changed).

In each post, I'll be highlighting my favorite high-end and my favorite affordable product, and today I'm talking about my favorite makeup brushes. I have a lot of different brands on my vanity, but these are the ones I reach for most often.

Batiste Dry Shampoo Plus Brilliant Blonde Review

2
batiste dry shampoo brilliant blonde review
You probably won't believe this but I've never tried Batiste Dry Shampoo before...it seems like I'm the only one! But I guess that's because I'm fairly new to dry shampoo...until recently, I used to wash my hair every day (every other day at most). I tried a few several years ago when they first started to become popular and was really disappointed in how they made my hair look and feel (powdery and sticky) and I just gave up on them and started washing my hair more often.
But several months ago, I dyed my hair from brown to blonde and the bleaching left my hair really dry and breakage-prone. My stylist suggested I wash my hair less often, so I started researching dry shampoos again.
Last week, I reviewed the new Ouai Dry Shampoo Foam (see that post here) and was disappointed in the outcome, so several people on social media suggested I try Batiste.
