March Favorites Day 9- Mascaras

3
Day 9 of my March Favorites is all about my go-to mascaras! I'll admit I'm a total mascara junkie...every time a new formula launches I just have to try it (which is easy to do since they have to be replaced every few months). But no matter how great a mascara makes my lashes look, if it smudges underneath my eyes (which a lot of them do) or flakes everywhere it's a deal-breaker.

The two formulas that I'll be talking about today are the ones I've been reaching for over and over again for the past couple of years. I've repurchased both of these many times and I always want to have at least one of them on hand, especially if I have to go somewhere for the day. I don't mind testing new mascaras if I'm going to be home but if I'm going out, I know I can rely on these to make my lashes look amazing and not give me raccoon eyes by lunchtime.

Let's take a look!

Favorite Mascara (high-end):

Julep Length Matters Buildable Lengthening Mascara ($20)
I first discovered this in my Julep Maven subscription box (which is awesome by the way). It's available at Ulta as well, but I order it in my box every few months because the mascara costs $20 on its own and the box is $24.99 a month ($19.99 with a 3-month subscription) and you can choose any products you want from their website up to a $40 value. I usually get the mascara, and then add either two nail polishes or a nail polish and a skincare or makeup item so it's a really good deal! Anyway, sorry to go off on a tangent...back to the mascara!
Length Matters has a fairly wet formula with a plastic bristle brush that really separates and combs through your lashes. I've tried so many high-end mascaras and none of them have given me such a wide awake, lifted look to my lashes. It doesn't claim to be waterproof, but it doesn't budge at all until it's time to take off my makeup at night...no smudges, no flakes.

Available at Ulta.com or in the Julep Maven Box

Favorite Mascara (drugstore):

CoverGirl The Super Sizer Mascara ($6.99)
I tried this mascara when it first launched and it immediately knocked my previous favorite (Jordana Best Lash Extreme) out of the top spot in my rotation. It's a very wet formula and can get clumpy if you're not careful (I make sure to wipe the wand on the edge of the tube a little bit before applying it) but if you don't use too much, it gives you the longest lashes ever! People have actually thought I was wearing falsies when I wear this...it's really amazing especially for the price. One downside I've found though is that it needs to be replaced more often than my other mascaras because it dries up quickly. I don't mind too much though because it's inexpensive...if my $20 mascara did that, I'd be more upset about it. Also, it's a bit harder to remove than some other formulas but it's not a big deal to me because it has serious staying power...I never have to worry about this smudging underneath my eyes.

  1. Wow! That Julep one! Your after picture almost makes me want to try it, but then I remember I have hated EVERY. SINGLE. plastic brush mascara I have ever bought (I'm too dumb to just quit). I've tried the CoverGirl too, but hated it. Probably the brush. You got beautiful results with that too!

  2. Wow the before & after pics sold me! I also tend to favor Asian mascaras lol, but after seeing these pics, I have to try them myself! I bought the CoverGirl The Super Sizer Mascara & Julep Length Matters Buildable Lengthening Mascara (they're cheaper on Ebay.)
