I know all-too-well how important it is to wear sunscreen on a daily basis...getting skin cancer at 30 years old wasn't something I ever expected to happen. It was an eye-opening and scary experience and one that I definitely don't want to repeat, and yet I still find myself skipping the sunscreen too often. The main reason is that most formulas are just so...unpleasant to wear. They're thick and sticky and smell weird, leaving my skin with a shiny film that sometimes still shows through my makeup. Even the "dry-touch" formulas have that telltale sunscreen scent and just don't do anything for my skin.
I recently discovered
Cotz Face Natural Tinted Sunscreen SPF 40 (
$19.99 at Ulta) and it's a total game-changer! It's actually a primer and a sunscreen in one, and it's unlike any other SPF I've tried.
First of all, it's a natural mineral-based sunscreen (vs chemical) with no preservatives, oils, or scent. It has the whipped mousse-like feel of a silicone-based primer and fills in pores and texture beautifully with a soft matte finish (no more shine!). The version I have has a hint of tint which pretty much disappears into my skin when I blend it out (they also have a
non-tinted version if you're paler than I am) and I find that while it doesn't add much coverage, the overall texture of my skin looks and feels
so smooth and soft, and makeup applies beautifully on top!
If you have oily skin or don't like the thicker feel of a primer, Cotz also makes another version called
Flawless Complexion which has more of a lotion-like feel and disappears into the skin with no greasy feel and no scent. I also have that one as well and you honestly don't even know you're wearing it! It's dermatologist-recommended for blemish-prone skin and won't clog pores.
Overall, I'm amazed that more people aren't talking about Cotz, so I really wanted to get the word out there. I've been wearing the Face Tinted Primer for the past week straight and I actually enjoy applying it because it makes my skin look and feel
better, not worse which is a first for me when it comes to sunscreens!
Currently, they're
BOGO 50% off at Ulta, so it's a great time to stock up.
Have you tried Cotz? I'd love to hear about it!
