I get so many questions from readers wondering what my favorite products are! So this month, I'll be posting a favorite item every day (then I'll do it again in September at the six month mark to see what's changed).
In each post, I'll be highlighting my favorite high-end and my favorite affordable product, and today I'm talking about my favorite makeup brushes. I have a lot of different brands on my vanity, but these are the ones I reach for most often.
Favorite High-End Brushes:
It Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe
It Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe
It Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Brushes are simply amazing! They actually make another line exclusively for Ulta that's a little bit less expensive, and those are pretty good but the Heavenly Luxe line is one of the best I've tried, hands down. They're super soft, well-made, and don't shed at all. My makeup always goes on flawlessly when I use these, as they're truly made to distribute product evenly on the skin.
They're sold individually at Ulta but I've collected quite a few over the years when they're included in a value set on QVC. They usually end up costing next to nothing, as the price of the kit is often within a few dollars of one brush on its own. So if you're interested in trying some of these, keep an eye out for those value sets (they usually come out once a quarter).
Favorite Affordable Brushes:
Beauty Junkees
I've been using Beauty Junkees brushes for about two years now and they are SO good! They sell individual brushes but I ended up purchasing two sets because it worked out to be a better deal that way. I have the 8 piece Eyeshadow Set, $24.97 (above) and the 5 piece Kabuki Set $29.97 (below).
The Eyeshadow brushes come in a faux leather pouch that's really soft and nice quality, while the Kabuki set comes in a round travel case that doubles as brush holders when you open it up on your vanity. I love that each brush has its function printed right on the handle, and they all feel really high-quality. I haven't had any issues with shedding whatsoever and the super soft bristles are comparable to many of my high-end brushes, in terms of feel and the way they apply products. A lot of the reviews on Amazon actually compare them to Sigma brushes and while I haven't tried those, I absolutely love these and reach for them daily.
So that wraps up Day 1...my favorite brushes! What brushes do you reach for most? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. :)
I heard about Claire's makeup brushes from nouveaucheap and to my surprise, I actually really like them. They're also affordable especially when they go on sale, which is pretty often. Like BOGO free or 50% off everything sale. They shed minimally and the bristles are all thick and soft. When I take my GFs there, they're always pleasantly surprised by the quality. Ofc I will definitely check out your recs too, as a girl can never have too many brushes!
ReplyDeleteWow, I'll definitely have to check those out! Leave it to G to always find those hidden gems. :)
DeleteI love this idea and will be back every day to see your all of your favorite products. I'm one of those nosy people that always wants to know what other people are using LOL. Will you be doing skincare as well as makeup?
ReplyDeleteOh I'm so glad you like it! I'm the same way, haha! :) Yes, I'll be doing skincare a little later on in the month, but I'm starting out with makeup first.
DeleteI love IT Cosmetics brushes but they're so expensive to buy one at a time and the 'made for ulta' range is ok but not as special as their Heavenly Luxe line. I just went to Amazon right and purchased those Beauty Junkees brush sets you recommended. I always trust your reviews but seeing thousands more positive reviews pushed me over the edge. Thanks for everything you do! I'll let you know how I like them.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! Definitely let me know your thoughts! :)
DeleteI work at Icing by Claires and people are always amazed at how soft our brushes are!
ReplyDelete@Jenn Mooney - love your company for producing such awesome brushes!
DeleteI will definitely have to check those out, thanks! :)
DeleteCould you recommend a good eyeshadow brush to use with my BH cosmetic eyeshadow palettes? Like the galaxy chic palette ?
ReplyDeleteSure, are you looking for a brush to pack color on your lid or a crease brush? Either way, you can't go wrong with the Beauty Junkees brushes...they sell the eyeshadow brushes individually but the set has everything you need and it works out to be a little bit cheaper that way.
DeleteLove this idea for a post! Do you have any BH cosmetics brushes? If so, how do you like them? xo -Abby
ReplyDeleteHi Abby!
DeleteI do have some BH Cosmetics sets and I do really like those as well! But since I could only choose one affordable brand for this post, I feel that for the price I like the Beauty Junkees a bit better. The quality is a little higher. :)
Thank you. I'll have to check those out I'm interested in packing on the color on my eyelid
ReplyDeleteI bought the Beauty Junkees sets (both of them) based on your recommendation and I could not be happier!!! These brushes are SO high quality and amazing, I feel like I got away with something. Seriously, anyone who is reading this, go to Amazon and if you're still not sure, read the thousands of positive reviews. Why is no one else talking about these? They should be!
