The Epic Illusion Palette comes in a white plastic compact with silver trim. It's really sleek and pretty and is a great size for travel. Inside, there's a mirror and six cheek colors...two highlighters, two bronzer/contour shades, and two blushes.

The Highlighters are very understated with a soft, natural-looking sheen (think Laura Geller's French Vanilla or Essence's Pure Nude). They add just a hint of glow, making you look lit-from-within, so if you prefer a more intense highlight, you may not like these. Unreal is a creamy champagne shade, very similar to Laura Geller French Vanilla, while Legendary is a soft pink.

There are two Bronze/Contour shades in this palette...Fable is a light, slightly warmer shade while Fiction is a deeper, cooler tone. Both have a matte finish and can be used as either bronzer or contour depending on your skintone.

The Blushes both have a satiny finish with no shimmer. Bluff is a beautiful cool-toned soft pink, while Mauvelous is a gorgeous rosy shade (my favorite).

Not only are the shades in this palette beautiful and soft, but the formula is too! These powders feel like silk on the skin...they glide on effortlessly and blend in seamlessly with a brush. You can see how smooth they look on the skin in my swatches below...they just look so soft and natural.

Overall, the Pur Cosmetics Epic Illusion Palette has jumped to the top of my list when it comes to cheek palettes and it was such an unexpected find! Pur's powder formulas have never let me down (their powder foundation is amazing) so I had a feeling I was going to love this too (and I was right). It seems to be geared more toward the fair-to-light skin category, but if you're medium it might still work for you as well. I definitely recommend swatching this one the next time you're at Kohl's to see if it works with your skin tone.

As for me, well, I have a feeling I'll be using this all summer! :)

  1. Wow, this looks really nice. I'm not into contouring or bronzers but I'd use those two middle shades as eyeshadows in a heartbeat!

  2. I'm a beauty advisor at Kohls and I've been showing this to all my customers because it's such a pretty palette and very high quality. I broke down and bought it myself last week and I use it every single day. I love the subtle highlighters and I agree that Mauvelous blush is one of the prettiest shades I have come across in a while. Great review!
